Wayshrine Information[edit]

Is it really necessary to duplicate all the information on the wayshrine locations on this page? Especially since people like to tweak these location descriptions, having them in multiple places is just going to lead to discrepancies. Right now, there isn't even a link to the Wayshrines page, meaning that readers aren't even being provided with access to the complete information (healing powers of wayshrines, pilgrimage of the nine divines, etc.). I think it would make more sense to just state what the blessing is at that divine's wayshrine, and then provide a link to the appropriate section on the wayshrines page. --Nephele 15:29, 12 October 2006 (EDT)

I was considering just replacing those with a bunch of links to the Oblivion Map. Just have to figure out how best to do that. Also want to add the blessings received from the shrines inside the temples. And I'm missing the staff of the Temple of the One. Might also add Cloud Ruler Temple - I think they're associated with Talos? Not sure. It's a work in progress. --TheRealLurlock 15:57, 12 October 2006 (EDT)
It would be pretty easy to put in a single map link that pulls up all of the wayshrines for a given divine, i.e. Wayshrines of Akatosh). (If you want to make it not look like an external link, then use (map).) But I still think that links to the Wayshrines page should be added here. --Nephele 16:08, 12 October 2006 (EDT)
Well, I got as far as Julianos, and then the map suddenly stopped working at all for me. I hope I didn't break anything... I'll see if I can do the rest from home later on. --16:27, 12 October 2006 (EDT)

Page Name[edit]

Why isn't this page just named "Nine Divines"? There is no disambiguation issue requiring that "(faction)" be tacked onto the name; the only other two factions with "(faction)" explicitly included in their name have it there to resolve disambiguation with quests using the same name. I believe page names should in general be shorter rather than longer. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't overlooking anything before doing the necessary page move, because it will require editing a dozen pages. So if anyone has any reasons why the page should not be moved, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll probably proceed to rename the page in a couple days. --Nephele 15:54, 7 November 2006 (EST)

Temple of the One Blessings[edit]

Has anyone else noticed that you can stack the Favor of Akatosh blessings at the Temple of the One? I happened to notice that my personality had been fortified to 248 because I had six FoA blessings active. I had not noticed this prior to the last few days, during which I've been practicing my jumping skills over the Temple walls. (One of the weird things you do with a level 53 character!) Perhaps the blessings only stack when you don't activate a script by going through the Temple doors? I never thought a high personality was very beneficial until I walked through Belda and not a single conjurer attacked me. In fact, they seemed very happy to see me!

Religion Name[edit]

What exactly is Nine Divines religion called? I've been wondering this for quite some time, and no where in the game have I come across someone who said what the religion is called. Anyone know?

Good question. The only references I can find are to the Nine Divines as one; eg, "You worship the Nine Divines, perhaps?", "I'd like to talk about the Nine Divines.". The most specific example is "We're a Nine Divines priory dedicated to the Order of Talos" - which seems to imply that "Nine Divines" is the name of the religion. At least, for those that don't call it "Eight plus One" (The Prophet). I suppose that would make the religion a nonotry (cf trinity). --RpehTalk 16:11, 2 October 2007 (EDT)
Since they are considered Aedra, and the worship of thier counterparts is considered Daedra worship, I would say that we could safely consider it Aedra worship. Although never mentioned in such a manner in-game, you would think that this is how they would refer to it.--Blktiger0 16:51, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Quick Edit[edit]

"The Knights of the Nine adds the Shrine of Kynareth, located outside the cities since she is the goddess of all things earthly and natural."

The KotN official mod only adds one shrine of kyrnareth located only outside the imperial city right? not outside very city?--Piercethetruth 06:37, 26 July 2008 (EDT)

That's right. The text means that the shrine is not in a city, rather than outside every city. –RpehTCE 08:57, 26 July 2008 (EDT)

Wayshrine Error[edit]

I was re-playing Knights of the Nine Exp the other day and noticed that there are two wayshrines to Talos. The second is just outside Skingrad (possibly Kvatch)and should be to Mara but instead is to Talos. — Unsigned comment by 92.233.172.221 (talk) on 13 June 2009

I'm not sure what you mean. The wayshrine you mention is probably this one. It is a Wayshrine to Mara, as explained here on the wiki, and on the map given to you during the Pilgrimage quest. --Timenn < talk > 13:53, 13 June 2009 (EDT)

I'm having the same problem, it isnt the shrine of mara its the shrine of Talos for me, there's nothing i can do about it either, i havent even done it the first time, i need help.

Sutch[edit]

I've taken some interest in the history of Sutch, a city that appears in early demos of Oblivion but was cut from the final version (though Fort Sutch survives in the game). I'm thinking the absence of this city could explain both why there is no temple to Kynareth (though her nature aspect also explains this, and of course KotN adds a shrine for her), and why Anvil specializes in two attributes. I thought about adding this to the Nine Divines page but as it is speculation I wasn't sure I should. Thoughts? BFG 05:02, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

See my reply at Oblivion talk:Fort Sutch. --Timenn-<talk> 10:14, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Shrine of Kynareth[edit]

Why are the Priests of Kynareth in the creatures faction? If this is confirmed, the priests should technically be removed from the Nine Divines faction members.

Because wouldn't it be ironic if all of Kynerath's 'little creatures' mutilated Jesper and Stanet? The creature faction prevents that.--Arch-Mage MattTalk 01:31, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Undercroft Enemies[edit]

I've added a sentence regarding the Sanctified Dead enemies found within the Chapel Undercrofts. After joining the Nine Divines faction, the player will receive a +80 Disposition boost with these enemies. With sufficient Personality (30+), the total disposition with the Sanctified Dead will be 95. This is just enough to not be attacked on sight. With less than 67ish Personality (not sure how the game rounds here), drawing a weapon in plain sight will cause the enemies to initiate combat. If you haven't attacked them yet then sheathing your weapon will subsequently disengage combat. 24.211.155.217 06:33, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

imperial cult[edit]

Are imperial cult and Nine Divines the same in lore? (Vvardfell 12:08, 14 January 2011 (UTC))

No. The Nine Divines is the belief of Aedra gods, while the Imperial Cult does believe in the Aedra gods thier purpose is to spread the belief of the Aedra gods to remote places and places that don't believe in them. They are basicaly missionaries.68.98.174.8 00:53, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

I found a glitch you can use in any chapel[edit]

Okay, so we all know you have to visit the right wayshrine for the matching altar in a chapel to give you their blessing right? Wrong. I accidentally ran across the following glitch, which isn't a big deal since nobody really uses the blessings in the churches anyways, because by the time they wear off you usually aren't fighting anybody yet. So, this is how you receive a blessing from one of the Nine Divines even if you haven't made a pilgrimage to one of their wayshrines. You go to the chapel in the mornings, Sundas is best because more people are there, and you stand in between an altar and someone about to receive a blessing. When they light up the alter you also receive the blessing. A spell counter icon will appear in the upper-right. This is also confirmed because I haven't been to a Talos wayshrine yet when I did this and looked at my active effects, and Talos blessing was one of them. Once you get the blessing and the NPC moves on, trying to get the blessing again will not work and tell you to make a pilgrimage, so it's not like it saves time in that you still must go to each of the Nines' Wayshrines. So there you have it, kinda useless but still an interesting glitch that I'm not sure anybody knows about. Try it for yourself! Maybe this can be added to an article page of some sort or to the glitches page. --D. Gemini

Updated Membership[edit]

I'm not sure if this info was left out intentionally, or if nobody just got around to it, but I added to the Chapel of Akatosh and also added Weynon Priory and Gottlesfont Priory. Gnasty Gro-Gnorc

Thanks for adding those. Bit embarrassing that we didn't already have them... rpeh •TCE 20:18, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
