I used a cheat to permanently increas my personality. It is 281 now, bandits and marauders dont attack me, but necromancers do, would it have anything to do with me being in the Mages guild? Will I need to make my personality higher? — Unsigned comment by 86.42.203.13 (talk)

Yeah - Necromancers hate guild members. You'll need an even higher personality to stop them attacking. –RpehTCE 13:34, 3 February 2008 (EST)

Hey, so I was in a necromancer dungeon, galas something or other (I remember it was the only other galas than the one at the end of KoN x-pack) anyway, I fought the necromancer adept at the end and he had an empty black soul gem on his body which surprised me, especially since I was only using a level 6 character. Does this mean that necromancer adapts have a chance of having black soul gems on them or is it only this necromancer dungeon, considering the rarity of black soul gems its probably worth mentioning that they have a chance of dropping them. I can't confirm this because I'm on x-box but someone might want to look into that or try and replicate it. — Unsigned comment by 69.251.17.240 (talk)

All necromancer adepts, in all dungeons, have a 10% chance of carrying a black soul gem, as long as your character is at least level 5. See Oblivion:Black Soul Gem#Notes. --NepheleTalk 22:23, 24 February 2008 (EST)

become 1???[edit]

hay, is there any way to become affiliated with necromancers, other than killing them, (ig. a member or worshiper) in oblivian? — Unsigned comment by Osiris (talkcontribs)

No, but you or someone else could make a modd about it if you're a PC gamer. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 21:55, 8 April 2008 (EDT)
You can use the Console to add yourself to the necromancer faction. player.setfactionrank 0004b90c 0 should do the trick. –RpehTCE 06:00, 9 April 2008 (EDT)

ok, sounds kool, i have it for both x-box and comp, but my comp needs a better graphics card, so once i get 1 ill try it. is there any way to get back the necromancer amulet or that blood..w/e helm? — Unsigned comment by 74.171.221.213 (talk)

No, you can't get back the Necromancer's Amulet or the Bloodworm Helm once you give them to Hannibal Traven. However, you or someone else could adjust the game with a modd in order to get them. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 19:16, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
Alternatively, you clould use a lot of fortify personality items and the bound items glitch to make them not attack you. But you won't be a part of the faction or have any dialog besides rumors but you can live with them. Puddle 20:03, 9 April 2008 (EDT)

it turns out someone is working on a mod so you can work for the necromancers, its not done yet, but he released a little sneak preview thing, it is supposed to have new locations, quest, and all that good stuff...so yea :) — Unsigned comment by Osiris (talkcontribs)

The Unofficial Oblivion Patch puts the amulet and the helm in the Arch-Mage's nightstand once you finish the Mages Guild quests, so you could get them that way. Or, again, you could use the console. –RpehTCE 00:46, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

Potions[edit]

While the first leveled list for the potions has a 0% chance none, the leveled lists that it points to each have a 25% chance of having no potion, so each level up to level 15 will have a different chance and amount of potions. Caveman 16:10, 5 February 2009 (EST)

I still can't see how levels effect the actual chance of getting each, single, potion. The amount defintively changes but the second leveled list that you point to (Stronger, Weaker and Standard) is the same for all levels. In the CS I don't see the 'Chance None' box change its values everytime I choose a different level. Sorry if it sounds a bit harsh, but... could you explain this instead of simply stating it? --SerCenKing 02:45, 6 February 2009 (EST)
Take the Restore Magicka potions, for instance. At level 15+ you get 3 potions from the LL0NPCPotionRestoreMagickaS list - which simply contains a Strong Potion of Healing at a 75% chance. That means you have three chances of 75% to get potions. That results (trust me on this) in a 1/64 chance of getting 0 potions; 9/64 chance of 1; 27/64 chance of getting 2, and 27/64 chance of getting 3. At level 14, for whatever reason, you can only get 1 potion and it's a standard rather than strong, but that means it's a simple 3/4 (48/64 if you prefer) chance of getting a potion. –RpehTCE 05:17, 6 February 2009 (EST)
Right, that explains it! I just got a bit lost at 27/64... Just wondering, why it is 64?--SerCenKing 10:19, 6 February 2009 (EST)
25% = 1/4; probability of 0 potions = 1/4 × 1/4 × 1/4 = 1/64. If you work through all the other possibilities (including the various combinations) you'll get the other figures. –RpehTCE 10:24, 6 February 2009 (EST)

Locations[edit]

If possible, i suggest you to add locations to the article. If this would require too much work, or take up too much space, i'd be just as happy if someone would mind telling me where to find the necromancer adepts. Thanks in advance. — Unsigned comment by 78.69.109.203 (talk) on 15 July 2009

Are you referring to this article, linked to from this page? --Timenn-<talk> 18:09, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Oh dear, I never found that page. Sorry about the trouble, and thanks a lot!

A Note on Tactics[edit]

Blew threw the MG questline in a couple days, just noticed that the Wizard's Fury spell that you're given more or less right when the Necromancer quests start is absolutely devastating against the large Altmer population of these guys; one shot and they're done (in the teens, at least, no idea at other levels). Quite timely that you get that when you do, really. 71.177.121.86 00:19, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Named Necromancers[edit]

There are a couple of named, non-respawing NPCs, namely Raelynn the Gravefinder and Jalbert. Would it be sensible to list them here? Other named necromancers include- Noveni Othran, Mariette Rielle, and Celedaen. They are the only named Necromancer-class NPCs (not counting the couple of undead ones), so does that make them worthy of being listed? Of course, they could have their page, but I feel its best to ask. -- Jplatinum16 21:29, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Both NPCs already have pages: ob:Jalbert and ob:Raelynn the Gravefinder and a list of known necromancers can be found at ob:Necromancy. --SerCenKing Talk 15:53, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Oh... how could I miss that page? :) Thnaks SerCenKing. -- Jplatinum16 15:57, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
No probs! --SerCenKing Talk 16:22, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Health[edit]

I'm asking this question here on this page but my question is also valid for bandits, marauders, conjurers, etc.

Is there a formula that could tell how much health points those randomly generated NPCs have (depending on your level of course)? I didn't find anywhere a formula for those NPC, and I'm not good enough with the Construction Set to make something out of it.

Note: I'm sorry if it's really obviously stated somewhere, I always search thoroughly when I have questions but I didn't find any answer for this one. — Unsigned comment by 173.176.85.92 (talk) on 25 July 2010

General statistics for NPCs can be found on Oblivion:NPCs#NPC Statistics -- Jplatinum16 23:52, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

disposition[edit]

if you got a very high fame or infamy and high personality could you get them to not attack you?Critias 20:29, 25 December 2010 (UTC)
