Countess's Bodyguard[edit]
HMSVictory I am pretty sure that considering the context it is used in, Countess's Bodyguard is correct. --Matthewest •T•C•E• 05:02, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
- No, you are mistaken. Proper nouns used in a possessive form which end in either an "s" or a double "ss" rarely require another "s" after the apostrophe. Your version is grammatically incorrect. --HMSVictoryTalk 05:04, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
- In that case....--Matthewest •T•C•E• 05:06, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
- The page you mentioned exists simply because someone else made the same mistake as you. This is why a redirect is necessary, as you have demonstrated. --HMSVictoryTalk 05:10, 15 April 2008 (EDT)

Oh okay then. I shall fix it all up. --Matthewest •T•C•E• 05:12, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
- Good. Even a very small error such as this can cause huge problems, especially when completely clueless new visitors find that the people who are supposed to be far more knowledgeable about TES and Wiki style and format have made a mistake like this. (Incoming hippy reference) It doesn't send out good vibes, man. --HMSVictoryTalk 05:15, 15 April 2008 (EDT)

- Except what's relevant here isn't your opinion about the correct grammar rules. What's relevant, according to the spelling guidelines, is how the character's name is spelled in the game. And investigating the relevant information reveals the actual source of the confusion here: each of the game's four countesses has a different bodyguard, and the game is not consistent about the bodyguards' names. In some cities the bodyguard is "Countess's Bodyguard"; in some cities the bodyguard is "Countess' Bodyguard". And these articles originally provided the correct information: the bodyguards' names in each case were appropriate for the bodyguard who belonged to that specific faction. It really does pay to check the facts occasionally.... --NepheleTalk 21:32, 19 April 2008 (EDT)
