Installation Steps (GOTY)

Debate continues to rage about whether GOTY is patched properly to 1.2.0416.

Firstly, for a much later edition, from the UESP:

     The 5th Anniversary Edition comes with the 1.2.0416 patch, but this 
     is applied only when disk 2 (Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles) is installed.
     Installing only disk 1 gives Oblivion version 1.1.425. So install both. (Ver. needed)

Regarding my own UK GOTY DVD:

The setup file is dated 26/07/2007, well after the final patch was released. Curiously, the filesize of the patch (5.09 mb) is larger than the size of setup.exe (4.28 mb), all the other DVD files being from 2006 or older.

The in-game support page v1.2.0416 bug fixes tallies with all those taken from the official site

Testing to see what happens, the v1.2.0416 patch was run on the existing installation.

It skipped Oblivion - Textures - Compressed.bsa Then, Patch Warning: Oblivion.esm

     Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. 
     No update done since file contents do not match.

The currently installed Oblivion.esm is dated 8/12/2006.

Continuing, the same message applied when processing Oblivion.exe (7.19 mb or 7549440 bytes stamped 1.2.0416 - but that might have been after applying the tiny LAA flag & discarding the original exe). The patcher then terminated. Probably explains why some of this stuff caused a few headaches at the time...--Lmstearn (talk) 05:11, 2 September 2016 (UTC)
