Oblivion Mod talk:Tool Features

Editing[edit]
How do we edit the page description paragraph? Does it require sysadmin privs or something? The summary paragraph is badly out of date, claiming mod management is not needed yet for Oblivion when clearly this is no longer true. --Dev akm 17:44, 2 May 2006 (EDT)
- Figured out how to edit the summary paragraph. Doh! Thanks to lots of help from me, myself, and I. --Dev akm 17:56, 2 May 2006 (EDT)
- There you go... --Wrye 19:54, 2 May 2006 (EDT)
Leveled List Merging[edit]
Pulled the link to ScripterRon's excellent tool from the levelled list merging section because it's designed for merging leveled lists while merging mods. Excellent and important utility, but here were concerned about leveled list merging outside of mod merging. --Wrye 22:15, 16 December 2006 (EST)
Load Ordering[edit]
I don't have very much knowledge on the subject and unfortunately this page didn't clear it up. I'd like to see an example of what happens when you load order one large mod and several other smaller more specific mods. I believe this scenario would be more useful for teaching as most people use one large gameplay altering mod and then numerous aesthetic mods. 68.45.252.169 19:56, 24 June 2007 (EDT)
- This page is pretty dated. I'll see about updating it. But as for the question... It's very difficult to have a general solution (well, there are some things you can/should do). Typically, you need to know what specific mods do before you know how to order them. That's usually discussed in the docs for the relevant mods or on the forums. --Wrye 23:14, 24 June 2007 (EDT)
Deleted Info[edit]
There used to be a section at Tes4Mod:Mod_Management#In_Game_Formid that provided information on why FormIDs start with xx for mod items, and gave some basic information on how to figure out what xx should be translated into (for example, this). That section is linked to from multiple Oblivion pages. Now, however, the Mod Management page redirects here, there is no proper subsection named "In Game Formid" (i.e., nothing for an anchor link to point to), and the section that does exist doesn't have any of the information that used to be here. Although the linked tools may be the best way to figure out each mod's prefix, I think a lot of readers will want to first know what on earth is going on, and second will want to know whether there are any ways to guess at the prefix without installing a tool (even if some of those methods may be frowned upon). So I really think that information needs to be on the site somewhere. And all of the existing links need to be fixed, so that readers aren't being sent on a wild-goose chase for the information. --NepheleTalk 21:10, 29 March 2008 (EDT)
- Best solution seems to be to update FormId, then edit other pages to point to it. Working on it. --Wrye 15:21, 30 March 2008 (EDT)

- Done (enough). Just some talk pages and some replications pages left. --Wrye 00:11, 31 March 2008 (EDT)
