Torne's Blockade
A history of the shield Torne's Blockade

In the Colovian Mountains, near to the border of Skyrim, lived the Torne family. Five Nords of the most hardy variety--three brothers and thier parents. They spent their days woodcutting and hunting the deer than gallopped freely through their small patch of Tamriel.

The father, Ola, was the of the fourth generation to live on Torne Forge. A master woodcutter and a man of immense strength, he could cleave a tree in half with but a few strokes. He could also turn wood into almost any impliment imaginable--and often did.

Mawne, the mother was a simple farmer. She kept the family together through the periods of hardship and was firm but fair. repescted and loved without reservation.

The eldest Brother, Maynar followed in his father's footsteps diligently. Although more muscle than brain, he learned everything he could about woodcarving and cutting-- he was next to inherit the Torne Forge.

The Middle Brother, Denner was a more ambitious Torne. He spent his time reading books and teaching himself the ways of magic. His dream was to become a member of the Arcane University - to the disgust of his father.

The Youngest brother was called Borom. A quiet young man, he was a dreamer. Often his thoughts would wander to all the mysteries of Tamriel. He spent his days dreaming of questing to every corner of the kingdom and finding his fortune and adventure. He was the quietest Torne, but never forgot anything he saw or heard. Little did he know that his dreams would soon become a reality.

After his father had grown older more, more responsibility was placed on the three brothers. Maynar was gone most of the day fullfilling the family needs. Denner looked after the farm which gave him time to brew alchemical potions while preparing the family meal. Often he would forget which was the food and which were the potions--causing some unusual arguments in the house at mealtime. Borom worked repairing and maintaining the faily farm and tools.

One day after another argument about how Denner had poisoned the evening meal once again, the fire in Torne Forge started to burn low. Ola, needing the heat, told Borom to fetch some more firewood. This he did immediately. Borom stood up and walked out of the house toward the small barn where the firewood was kept dry. Gathering up enough firewood for the night he returned to the house. What he saw on his return left an imprint on his soul forever...

Lying in pools of their own blood, everyone had been brutally slain by a force unknown. A shadow flickered just out of eyesight and was instantly gone. Overwhelmed with grief and sobbing uncontrolably, Borom staggered over to where his father was now lying motionless. A note lied in his father's crushed hand. It read:

Borom, know that your father was an evil man--know that he murdered my whole family in a drunken rage many years ago. know that I, Adler, have now repaid this debt in full. I have spared your life because of your kindness and help in the past. You could not know I was stalking your family. You only knew kindness. For this you are still alive. Be warned, however, that if you choose a path of revenge, the only certainty is your death.

Borom stood motionless. Grief and Anger mixed together to form a tempest of emotion. He let out a roar that echoed through the breadth of the Colovian Mountains and vowed in blood to kill Adler for destroying everything he held dear.

Two days later Borom had prepared for his quest. He had burned the family home down to the ground as a funeral pyre for his family and from the broken and scarred wood he fashioned a shield of immense strength. He carved four dragons into the wood one for each member of his family and imbued it with their spirits using Denner's dusty magical texts. He set off with his father's Axe and his new shield to find his destiny...
