The ravings of a man dedicated to Molag Bal

By all the gods, what happened last night? I cannot trust people. And it was so real and now I'm here! Or am I still dreaming... I do not know. But if I may trust my perception, the Prince of Darkness has finally answered my prayers. Molag Bal, oh blessed be thou, thou Worthy, has spoken to me. Has chosen me to strengthen his kingdom, as a captain in his army!

In the dream he told me to stop off in Mephala's realm and build an outpost. He wanted to subdue the Spider Crawler. And I will. I am his sword!

When I woke up, and I suppose that I'm there because I can feel the sand beneath my boots, there was this fire. This blue glow. Oh, the worthy knows how my belief in his omnipotence wavered, but I trusted and stepped into it. And he would chastise me for the thoughts in which I doubted his omnipotence hit me for a moment, as I was surrounded by burning hot desert sun. Oh, Molag Bal, gentleness be with your blade that I thought for a moment you wanted to let me melt in the vastness of the desert sands. On my knees I squirmed in pain. I wore fire in my eyes. I wore blisters on my skin. Oh, my child of the night, in what terrible pain I crawled to the cave. To my oasis. The Mighty Shelter.

In these shadows, my haven of darkness, I knew the great Bal had chosen me to build his shrine. Here it should start! Not far from the portal. The destruction of the Spider God! The first shadow was my own, who threw himself into his sun realm!

For days now I have nourished myself from the creepy-crawlies that the unworthy Lord of this world holds so sacred. But Bal was with me. He has sent me more shadows from the dark. Always new brothers and sisters of my blood, swelled by the blue flame, ready for war against the Spider God. Under hardest efforts I managed to build a hut. At night the ruler of this desert seems to bed down in his bedchamber, but Molag Bal is not resting. His servants work steadily. And soon we will start with the temple. Because the master shows us mercy. There must be a city somewhere in the north. The Azura blessed praise where the Spider Lord. Apparently they got here from Morrowind. Your runaway slave leads us to the mighty Prince of Darkness. A much better time than this bone creeping thing of the earth.

The Master's temple is done. The work stands. But there is no joy talking through the spring, because - Oh Bal, you Mighty! Ruler of shackles and corruption! Where are you? Why have you forsaken us? The ones who built you a marvel in spite of sun and sand?

Natalan, one of the few in Kathar who dares to seek and take up the perilous journey, has now drawn Ordinators to his trail in his nocturnal hunting. The spider crawler followed him up to this point. And this fool did not notice anything. I could see from the castle as they disappeared into the refuge of the cave. Oh, my body ached with each of my sisters and brothers who brought forth this false blood in flames. Oh great Bal, why you were so gracious to me and so angry with your servant? I am writing this in a trembling hand and dare not go down into the cave to see if the master's shrine is still safe and sound.

I have now been waiting for one day, but curiosity forced me down. Down into the cave to see what was left of my loyal followers. Down to the shrine to see whether these sycophants of the spider god had defiled him. They had destroyed him. The statue of our prince is destroyed. All my helpers are fallen victim to Mephala's angry thugs. My mission has failed here. Oh great Bal. I am unworthy. But why did this happen? I await eagerly a sign from you in my dreams.

And so I will descend into the basement of the shrine and nourish myself there from the slaves still present. And wait. Wait for more soldiers of the princes. Wait to build the shrine again. To be able to turn to my task again. I'll wait. For we children of the night belong to eternity. Perhaps this is the reason why you, Bal, had chosen me. Your blade. Your child of the night! And one day I'll hear your voice in my dreams again. And follow your order. One day you'll talk to me again, Molag Bal! And so I'll wait for all eternity!
