Lore talk:Velothis Haven
Factual Accuracy of Falura Llervu's Dialogue[edit]
RubyRanks recently edited the article to remove the following statement:
In 3E 427, according to Falura Llervu, a slave kept at Tel Aruhn, the leader of Velothis Haven was her father Andrano Llervu, a noble from Tel Llervu.{{ref|name=MWFaluraLlervu}}
When I saw the edit I questioned the reason for the deletion, but upon checking Falura Llervu's dialogue I believe I understood the reason for its removal. Falura Llervu is a Dunmer slave who is being passed off as a high-born Telvanni lady to Ashkhan Kaushad of the Zainab tribe as part of the Zainab Nerevarine quest. During part of the quest, she will say:
"Yes, sera. Falura Llervu of Velothis Haven, daughter of Andrano Llervu, lord of Tel Llervu, pleased to make your acquaintance. See? Savile Imayn has taught me well. I shall BE a high-born Telvanni lady, and no one will know the difference. Just like a lady."
Savile Imayn is the slave trader in Tel Aruhn, who is coaching Falura in her new role. Given the context in which this dialogue line is spoken, I would say there is considerable doubt over whether we can take the statement as factual, or whether it is simply a fiction invented in order to lend verisimilitude to Falura's deception. Given this ambiguity over the statement's factual accuracy, should the above edit be included as "fact" in the article, should it be relegated to a note with an explanation as to the statement's ambiguity, or should it be removed entirely? — Wolfborn↝(Howl) 09:09, 20 November 2020 (UTC)
- I'd say give move it over to notes. There could actually be a Tel Llervu and an Andrano Llervu, but Falura falsely claims to be their daughter. The dialogue is also useful as it acknowledges the town from Arena in TES 3.Zebendal (talk) 09:18, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

- I would tend to agree. Falura Llervu may or may not be from Velothis Haven, Andrano Llervu may or may not be an actual person, and if he is, he may or may not be Falura's father and he may or may not be the lord of Tel Llervu, which may or may not be an actual place. Given the number of "may or may not be"s in there, I don't see leaving the information as-is. At best it should be reworded to indicate the considerable uncertainty surrounding the validity and accuracy of Falura's claims. — Wolfborn↝(Howl) 12:15, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

- I think it should stay in the history section, but note that the statement is only alleged, like is done with many other statements of similar nature. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 19:28, 20 November 2020 (UTC)

(←) I propose the following edit:
In 3E 427, Falura Llervu, a slave pretending to be a high-born Telvanni lady, claimed to be from Velothis Haven, the daughter of Andrano Llervu, lord of Tel Llervu. However, given the context in which this claim was made, the veracity and factual accuracy of this statement is highly uncertain.
With appropriate references to Falura Llervu's dialogue and the Zainab Nerevarine quest, of course. I believe this wording would present the information in an appropriate way in either the history section or as a note. I personally don't have a particular preference as to where it should go, although the current votes seem to favor moving it to a notes section. — Wolfborn↝(Howl) 00:06, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

- I added that to the page, lemme know what u think. I put it in the history section since the year is mentioned, and the bit about the claim being unable to be verified one way or the other is included. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 05:29, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
