Glenumbra vs Glenumbra Moors[edit]

To me, Glenumbra and Glenumbra Moors seem to be vastly different entities, a difference which I believe should be noted in some form (whether that be by having two separate articles or not, I am unsure).

  • Glenumbra Moors is a political region of the Third Era, with its own identity and customs. It's a tiny province on the west coast north of Daggerfall which becomes amalgamated into the Daggerfall city state after the Warp in the West.
  • Glenumbra is a geographical region which encompasses the whole of the north-western High Rock peninsula. Daggerfall is within the region, as are Daenia and Camlorn. This geographical region appears to lend its name to the later City of Glenumbra (which does not exist in the Second Era) and its state Glenumbra Moors.

If anyone knows of Glenumbra Moors being mentioned by name in ESO, that would be useful to add as well. --Enodoc (talk) 13:57, 16 February 2014 (GMT)

The only reference to the moors I can find in books is to the Battle of Glenumbria Moors, which could easily be a separate place, but could also just be a misspelling/older spelling. This book describes high rock as it is in ESO Glenumbra's People. Jeancey (talk) 17:28, 16 February 2014 (GMT)

Ah great, thanks for those links. Based on what you say about Glenumbria Moors, which I guess is from Ghosts of Glenumbra, I am inclined to agree that's an older name. That also works in terms of comparing the Iliac Bay map and the ESO map if the moors are specifically the area northwest of Aldcroft. Based on that, I am inclined to say that the "Glenumbra Moors" region (whether a political region or not) is distinct from the "Glenumbra" region as a whole, and should have a separate article. --Enodoc (talk) 22:12, 16 February 2014 (GMT)
I don't actually think any of the regions in Daggerfall should have pages themselves, but rather just the cities. There is no evidence that those regions are actually separate from the cities they surround. Jeancey (talk) 22:20, 16 February 2014 (GMT)
Oh okay, I've never played Daggerfall so I don't know how that works. Only that they're constantly referred to as "city-states", so I guess that makes sense. In that case, there would end up being a Glenumbra (city) for the Daggerfall city and its Glenumbra Moors, and a Glenumbra (region) for ESO, I guess? --Enodoc (talk) 22:46, 16 February 2014 (GMT)
That is correct. Jeancey (talk) 22:48, 16 February 2014 (GMT)

() I'd like to revisit this discussion. The regions in Daggerfall are not city-states; rather, they are Third Era political entities. Some are kingdoms, some duchies, some counties, etc. Not all the regions have corresponding cities (for example, Cybiades, an undefined political entity). I would like to maintain the distinction between these entities and the various cities and regions that share their name. In the case of this page, there are four distinct locations in lore: the major geographical region of Glenumbra, the geographical boglands of Glenumbra Moors, the pre-Warp barony of Glenumbra Moors, and the rather historically irrelevant city of Glenumbra.

Even if we don't create separate pages for all of these, I think the distinction needs to be made, especially considering the new ESO lore. In this example, personally I think everything but the city of Glenumbra should have a page (i.e., Glenumbra (region), Glenumbra Moors (region), Glenumbra Moors (barony)), while Glenumbra (city) can redirect to the barony page. Glenumbra and Glenumbra Moors can then act as disambigs. Lumping all of these particularities under the name of an insignificant Daggerfall city isn't doing the lore justice. —Legoless (talk) 17:53, 18 January 2015 (GMT)

Farwatch[edit]

Farwatch is shown as a subregion of Glenumbra based on the Daggerfall Dapple Horse description, when it is included within the subregion of Daenia. (see Farwatch tower and wayshrine) Shouldn't it be removed? Bengamey 974 (talk) 17:21, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
