Vulkwasten (also called Vulkwasten Wood)[1] is a graht-oak settlement located on the seaside hills of Malabal Tor, in the province of Valenwood. The town is well known for its fermented alcoholic beverages,[2] which is made by a family of brewers for generations.[3]

History[edit]

Sometime in 2E 578, the Wood Orcish chieftain, Orhg was publicly executed in Vulkwasten, and his hanging was depicted on silver-plated embroider plates.[4] In 2E 582, the mage, Firuin tried to sabotage the rotmeth production by aggravating the timber mammoths and breaking into the brewery. An adventurer helped rally the mammoths and defeated the mage. The brew, however, was stolen and taken to Balding Hill, a landmark northeast of town and west of Silvenar. The adventurer was able to save the rotmeth.[5] At around the same time, the Fighters Guild assembled the Council of Province Generals in their guildhall in Vulkwasten to discuss the death of the previous guildmaster, Jofnir Iceblade.[6]

During the Imperial Simulacrum in the late Third Era, the town of Vulkwasten Wood was an active settlement. It was ruled by Duke Argorn and had a rivalry with Longvale.[1] Vulkwasten Wood was neighbored by several settlements, including Ebon Ro to the northeast, Falinesti to the west, and Silvenar to the south.[7]
