Turnpoint is a small settlement near the border of Cyrodiil and Valenwood, known for its abundant natural resources from the surrounding forests and rivers, as well as its signature stew.[1][nb 1]

History[edit]

Third Era[edit]

In the late Third Era, Turnpoint had been a small yet bustling hub, thriving on the natural resources from the surrounding woods and rivers. However, due to the rise of the Thalmor, the town was destroyed and mostly abandoned.[1]

Fourth Era[edit]

At some point in the Fourth Era, Hasah, a man from Dragonstar and Irrielle, a mer from Firsthold attempted to revitalize the settlement, but despite their efforts, people continued to avoid it. Both were history enthusiasts and had fallen in love during their research together.[1]

During his travels, at some point between 4E 197 and 4E 201, Urzhag gro-Larag stumbled upon the settlement. At the time of his visit, most of the structures were run down, except for one well-maintained house. It was home to a couple—Hasah and Irrielle, who invited Urzhag for a dinner. During his stay, Urzhag helped the couple with small tasks around the village. Irrielle expressed concern about having to leave, as they planned to start a family, and the isolation of the woods wasn’t ideal for raising children. While Urzhag was there, a traveling merchant also visited. They hosted the merchant, who was grateful for the meal and gifted them a few seeds in return. The next morning, Urzhag left but kept in touch, promising to write.[1]

At a later time, Urzhag returned to Turnpoint. The merchant who had previously visited had recognized the abundance of natural resources and made the village his base of operations. The seeds he had given Hasah and Irrielle, with the help of a young mage who had also settled there, grew quickly. Travelers were drawn in by the trademark stew the couple was preparing. Irrielle and Hasah planned to open an inn, and by that time, Irrielle was expecting a child.[1]

After a year, Turnpoint had transformed from a nearly abandoned ruin to a bustling village, much like it had been in the Third Era. The couple had successfully opened their inn, and their daughter had been born. A new town square was established, with a fire and an iron pot at its center, warmly welcoming weary travelers.[1]

Urzhag exchanged culinary secrets with the villagers and continued to correspond with Hasah and Irrielle, who shared recipes with him. One of these recipes was a Nordic dish, a favorite of their daughter. Urzhag promised to visit Turnpoint once again in the autumn.[1]

Notes[edit]

1.  The exact location of the village of Turnpoint is unknown. If the village is situated on the Cyrodiil side of the border, it would be in the West Weald region.[2] However, if Turnpoint is located in Valenwood, it would likely be part of either the Malabal Tor or the western parts of the Reaper's March regions.[3]
