Silsailen or Silsailen Point[1] is a little farming town located in southern Auridon, over the hills of Iluvamir, northeast of Vulkhel Guard and south of Phaer.

Layout & Geography[edit]

Silsailen's landscape is bucolic, surrounded by farms and barns.[2][3] The unwalled town[4] overlooks the Eastshore river delta where a multitude of inlets and coves are open to the sea which separates southeastern Auridon from the Drowned Coast in Greenshade.[5][6] It was located next to several settlements, including Skywatch in the east, and Vulkhel Guard in the south.[7]

History[edit]

First Auridon Marine helping rebuild Silsailen

It is unknown when Silsailen was founded, possibly as early as the Early Merethic Era, when Torinaan first landed in Auridon, to as late as the Second Era, when Silsailen was a well-established Altmer settlement.[8][9] By around circa 1E 2250,[10][11] a small mining settlement had already been established at that location.[12]

In 2E 582, Silsailen was under the administration of Canonreeve Valano, who began to secretly work with the Veiled Heritance.[13] High Kinlady Estre, the Veiled Queen, promised Valano would become Canonreeve of the larger city of Skywatch in return for his loyalty and assistance.[14] Before Queen Ayrenn visited the town during her tour of Auridon, Valano ordered the Heritance to raze Silsailen while they were under the guise of the First Auridon Marines stationed in the town, imprisoning them in a cellar. Many villagers died during the attack, while others fled and the settlement almost burned to the ground.[15][16][17] One Eye of the Queen managed to free the captive Marines and save some of the villagers.[18] In the meantime, the Canonreeve tried to escape with help from Advisor Norion, a high-ranking member of the Heritance, but was captured before he could.[19][20] Ultimately, the Heritance was forced from Silsailen and Valano was captured by the actual First Auridon Marines.[20]

After the settlement burned and the rebellion defeated, the First Auridon Marines began to rebuild the town alongside the surviving townsfolk under the guidance of their new Canonreeve, Elenwen, the daughter of the former one.[20][3]

During the Imperial Simulacrum, Silsailen was still thriving as a town, led by Lord Soliron. It had a rivalry with Karndar Watch.[1]

Government[edit]

Silsailen Canonreeve's Manor

Silsailen has always been an integral part of the realm of the Summerset Isles since its foundation. A canonreeve is tasked to rule the settlement.[16]

Culture[edit]

Silsailen is primarily a farming town, worked by local Altmer,[2][3] as opposed to its northern neighbor Phaer, which mainly uses foreign manpower.[21]

The many secluded inlets and coves in the region are used by criminals as a hideout, allowing them easy access to the nearby Silsailen.[6]
