Lore:Givyn
The Givyn family is an ancient family of Dunmer that lived in the province of Morrowind affiliated with the Great Houses Telvanni,[1] and Redoran.[2] Some members of the family also belonged to the Ashlander tribe of Kagesh.[3][4] They were active during the Second,[5][6] and Third Era.[2]
The Givyn Tower was a small Telvanni tower built within the city of Sadrith Mora.[7]
History[edit]
Second Era[edit]
At some point during the Interregnum, before 2E 582 at least one member of the Givyn family had already ascended to the rank of Magister. A Telvanni Magister from the Givyn family was among the twelve influential members of House Telvanni who signed the official refusal to join the Ebonheart Pact.[1]
As of 2E 582, the Givyn family were landowners with an estate in Sadrith Mora, the seat of Telvanni power on Vvardenfell.[7] They also owned a strip of land by the nearby coast.[8] Faras Givyn lived in Sadrith Mora with her son, Llonas.[5][6] She was a slaveowner,[9][10] and among her slaves was an Altmeri woman named Tirwin, in whom her son fell in love and wished to free in order to marry. Unhappy with this development, Faras also considered freeing Tirwin and sending her away, hoping to avoid a scandal.[5][6] It remains unclear whether Tirwin obtained her servitude obligation papers or was bought, but she ultimately managed to escape both slavery and unwanted advances, fleeing to her homeland on Summerset Isle.[8]
Garalo Givyn was a spellwright within House Telvanni. Around 2E 582, in his quest to advance within the ranks, he ventured to the Isle of Gorne, which was under House Indoril control, in order to to acquire the magical research of Telvanni master Dreynis on the art of teleportation.[11]
Broder and Ervas Givyn were associated with the Ashlander tribe of Kagesh.[3][4] Drarayne Givyn was a member of the Keepers of the Dead of Necrom, a religious order dedicated to the Dunmeri ancestor worship practices.[12]
Third Era[edit]
Idros Givyn served as a guard at Venim Manor in Ald'ruhn, the residence of Bolvyn Venim, the Archmaster of House Redoran, during 3E 427.[2]
