"Sons. Daughters. Gather your kin. The time has come for our scattered clan to reunite, for soon we shall have a home." —Gherig Bullblood of the Dreadhorn Clan

Patriarch Gherig Bullblood of the Dreadhorn Clan was a Reachman Blood-Forged clan leader active in 2E 582. He made an alliance with Domihaus the Bloody-Horned and led Dreadhorn to an ancient Nedic site - the Bloodroot Forge.[1] The Reachfolk and Minotaurs soon began to work it, capture nearby settlers and force them to mine nirncrux to feed the forge.[2] One of his ambitions was to conquer the province of Skyrim with the power granted to his clan by the nirncrux and weapons and armors forged in the ancient forge.[3] He was also a knowledgeable smith and armorer, and penned instructions for his clansmen for crafting their arms and armor.[4]

History[edit]

Dreadhorn Clan

Sometime during the early years of the Interregnum, Gherig Bullblood was a leader of Reachfolk Clan with an unknown name. He and his fellow Reachfolk clan members followed the signs laid by their Crow Mother for thirty days and nights. They were tracing crow-picked corpses through the Jerall Mountains, until finally, they found a Hircine's champion they sought for.[1]

The champion was the minotaur known as Domihaus the Bloody-Horned, who took a pendant from Gherig and taught him that it was of the Keptu origins and that his entire clan descended from the Keptu. Domihaus prepared the blood magic ritual and reshaped the stones. Both Gherig and Domihaus took part in it. The ritual linked Gherig to the old lands of his ancient ancestors, a home which called to him to rediscover it. With the union of blood, Gherig's clan was reborn as the Dreadhorn clan, which revered Hircine through his champion Domihaus,[4] whom the clan hoped would lead them to reclaim the lands their ancestors lost to the Nords.[1]

Gherig led the Dreadhorn clan towards the destination the minotaur Domhihaus had shown him. They traveled to Craglorn in Hammerfell and discovered Hircine's Boon, the ancient Nedic site known as the Bloodroot Forge, and began to work it. Any settlers near the area were either sacrificed or enslaved and forced to mine nirncrux to feed the forge. They managed to use the secrets of the forge to craft the weapons and armor of great durability and power.[2]

The Reachfolk of the Dreadhorn Clan has grown in strength and power under Gherig's leadership and soon they decided to enact their plans. By 2E 582, Domihaus led an organized attack on Falkreath Hold. The Dreadhorn clan and their minotaur allies, overseen by the relative of Gherig, Morrigh Bullblood utilized relatively advanced siege weapons[5] and the power of shamanistic Kyne-magic during the siege.[UOL 1] The assault ended up in failure as the Undaunted intervened and crossed the battlefield to aid the thane in her effort to save the city. The group was able to defeat Domihaus at the jarl's keep and thus ending the siege.[5]

Gherig Bullblood remained in the forge to continue overseeing the process of the creation of powerful weapons. The threat of the Dreadhorn clan grabbed the attention of the Undaunted, which led to an assault on the forge. Gherig, his subordinates, and allies opposed the Undaunted but ultimately were defeated. Gherig fought the mercenaries personally wielding a battle axe and the fire magic and was slain in the forge's main chamber.[6]
