Baurus was a Redguard member of the Blades (and the youngest member of his time)[1] who was a personal bodyguard to Emperor Uriel Septim VII, in the late Third Era.[2] After the Emperor was assassinated, Baurus took the failure to protect the Emperor on a personal level and vowed to hunt down the assassins and protect the heir to the throne, Martin Septim.[3]

Jauffre, the Blades Grandmaster, enlisted the Hero of Kvatch to locate Baurus in the Imperial City to obtain valuable intelligence concerning the assassins of the Emperor. Upon finding Baurus, and taking care of an assassin who was stalking him, the hero found a copy of the first volume of the Mythic Dawn Commentaries on the assassin's person. Baurus informed the hero that the assassins who killed the Emperor were part of a Daedric cult known as the Mythic Dawn. He instructed them to deliver the book to Tar-Meena, a scholar at the Arcane University, renowned for her expertise in Daedric cults.[4]

Baurus and the hero later met a few Mythic Dawn cultists in the Imperial City's sewers, posing as initiates, in order to obtain the last copy of the Mythic Dawn Commentaries. The result of this meeting led to a skirmish. Baurus took part in the skirmish, and with the book recovered returned to Sky Ruler Temple to act as Martin Septim's personal guard. He stayed by the Emperor's side during the Defense of Bruma, and assisted in escorting Martin through the Imperial City during Mehrunes Dagon's final attack to the Temple of the One to light the Dragonfires.[4][5][6][Note 1]

Baurus made a statement to the hero on Martin, after the Crisis: "The scholars and priests can debate what happened to Martin in the end. What I know is that he sacrificed himself to save us all. As a Blade, I'm proud to have served such a master, if only for a short while."[7]
