History[edit]
Like all natural caves, these tunnels once served as the capillaries of Nirn, pulsing with the divine essence of the Aedra.[1]
Circa 2E 582, the cave was located at the mouth of a waterfall west of Blue Road Keep, a strategically important fortification built on top of the region's volcanic springs. At that time it was occupied by the Bloodborn, a group of Cyrodilic vampires.[2]
By 3E 433, Barren Cave was located next to a body of water and continued to be used as a vampire den.[3]
