The trailer opens on an aerial shot of former Morag Tong Grandmaster Rythe Verano traversing the wilds of Vvardenfell on horseback. He is accompanied by six Argonians, four of which are assigned to carry two long trunks by handles on the sides. Vivec can be heard in the voiceover accepting an audience with Naryu Virian, a Tong assassin.

Vivec: "What do you ask of me, assassin?"
Naryu Virian: "Sanction to execute the Grandmaster for his betrayal of the Order."
Vivec: "Hmm... granted."
Vivec: "Kill him somewhere out of the way to avoid questions."
Vivec: "Return swiftly Morag Tong, and bring any allies you meet... Morrowind has need of you all."

We see Naryu stalking the grandmaster through the fungal forests as he looks up from what appears to be a map stamped with the Tong's seal. In the voiceover, Naryu requests sanction to execute the grandmaster for betraying the order. Vivec gives the assassin his blessing as Verano dismounts his horse to gaze upon an overgrown Dwemer settlement now known as Mudan Ruins. Meanwhile, the Argonian attendants are putting Verano's luggage down. Naryu is instructed to kill him somewhere isolated in the voiceover while the camera pans up to view the ruin.

The Grandmaster looks upon the ruin in awe before a smile creeps over his face: he's clearly found what he's looking for. Suddenly, Naryu drops from the canopy, frightening Verano's horse and inciting the armed Argonian guards to draw their blades. The Saxhleel gasp as her hood falls to reveal her face. Perhaps recognizing her as an agent of the Tong, the guards look to each other and let out a grunt of agreement: they have collectively decided to flee the scene.

The next shot is a close-up of Naryu: the horse gallops past as she lowers her mask, turning to face the grandmaster with a smile. Verano backs away slowly, dropping the map while Naryu draws her blade. She chases the dishonored grandmaster towards the ruin, where he steps on a pressure plate hidden among the stairs. This activates the slumbering constructs: Dwarven Spiders descend upon the Dark Elves from the nearby cliff. The constructs prove to be a minor disruption for Naryu, who rather easily disposes of two.

Naryu leaps for the grandmaster, daggers aloft, but is knocked out of the air by one of the skittering constructs. Rythe smirks, thinking himself safe from his would-be assailant. Suddenly, a grizzly bear barrels past him, swatting the offending spider into pieces before roaring. The beast hurls another spider into the air by its leg, sending it flying straight into the sword of its Redguard Warden (named Boldekh). The assassin and the Warden give each other a nod of affirmation as the bear rushes back into battle.

Boldekh and his bear begin thinning out the spiders as Naryu continues her pursuit. The grandmaster stumbles straight into the path of a newly awakened Dwarven Sphere, maybe 2 inches away from being completely bodied by the construct. Naryu deftly steps out of the way as another sphere rolls out of a wall pipe. The construct circles the warden and his companion for a moment before unrolling to take a swing at Naryu and the grandmaster.

The fight against the constructs and Naryu's pursuit continue for the next 30 seconds: the bear destroys a Dwarven Sphere before it can take a swing at a horrified Rythe Verano, Boldekh blasts a sphere into a wall with a bolt of frost, and Naryu eliminates a sphere with a thrown dagger to the faceplate while the grandmaster stumbles away from the carnage. Spheres are smashed, the bear is bombarded with bolts fired from several spheres' arm-mounted crossbows, and Boldekh summons a storm of frost which explodes, eliminating the spheres for good.

As the dust settles, Rythe Verano rises from the rubble, hacking. Naryu's silhouette can be seen approaching from the side: in the next scene, the grandmaster is dropped on his knees central to the ruins. Naryu readies her blade to complete her mission. Suddenly, the massive door behind the grandmaster rolls open, and the singed cannon of a Dwarven Colossus emerges, turbines whirring. The cannon roars to life, and the grandmaster is engulfed in a huge gout of flame. Boldekh erects a wall of frost, saving he and Naryu from incineration.

The Dwarven Colossus steps into the sunlight, and the bear regroups with Boldekh and the assassin. Naryu raises her dagger, Boldekh readies a frost spell, and the screen falls black as the bear bellows. The camera pans up to reveal Vivec City sitting serenely beneath the smoldering peak of Red Mountain as the final portion of the Warrior-Poet's voiceover plays out, urging Naryu to finish her contract and suggesting she bring allies along.

Notes[edit]

This plot point is elaborated on in Naryu's Journal, a book published for the Morrowind Chapter's physical Collector's Edition.
