Joel Burgess was the Lead Level Designer a Writer at Bethesda Game Studios throughout the 2000s and 2010s, with credits on The Elder Scrolls and Fallout.[1]

- Oblivion — Burgess was responsible for the Vilverin, Lost Boy Cavern, Rockmilk Cave, Ceyatatar, and Underpall Cave levels.[6]
- Mehrunes' Razor — Burgess, in collaboration with Jeff Browne, created the entirety of the DLC, including all levels and fiction at Sundercliff Watch.[7]
- Vile Lair — Burgess established the theme and layout of Deepscorn Hollow, sharing level design and writing duties with some others on the team.[1]
- Shivering Isles — Burgess was responsible for the Ebrocca, Xeddefen, and Milchar levels.[6]
- Skyrim — In collaboration with the level design team, Burgess created dozens of the game's levels, such as Blackreach, Sovngarde, Throat of the World, Labyrinthian, The Ratway, and more. He also designed and implemented the misc quests for the Dragon Priest Masks and Daedric Quest for Peryite, The Only Cure. Burgess designed combat mechanics for the game's enemies, including the dragons, spriggans, and wispmothers. Additionally, Burgess participated in prototyping the spells, weapons, and perk features.[7]
