Open (Spell)[edit]

The Open spell effect can be bought from merchants or created in the Spellmaker. If the effect is successful, it will remove the lock on a door.

Usage[edit]

When the spell is cast, an Open enchantment is placed on the player. That enchantment fires onto the next locked door you click. The spell creates one attempt per cast, and does not stack.

Success[edit]

To unlock a locked door using an Open spell, two things must be true:

  • The Chance roll must be successful; and
  • Your character level must be equal to or higher than the lock's level.

This divergence from classic is due to the game's description of the Open spell: "Unlocks chest or door to lock-level of caster."[1]

Therefore, if a level 1 spellcaster creates a spell that invokes a 100% unlock chance, it still will not function on a level 2 lock, no matter how many attempts are made.
