Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Elemental Fury[edit]
Speak to a Fighter Quester, who says:
- "We have a new client who wants someone to hunt down an atronach, an elemental golem type critter. The pay is (random gold) gold. Are you interested?"
Accept[edit]
The Fighter Quester goes on:
- "A young dandy what I have sworn to keep unnamed, was screwing around with magic, illegally. Like a melonhead, he up and conjures an atronach. The thing's gotta be destroyed before those Mages Guild blokes find out. The thing fled into the depths of (dungeon). If you can do this quest in (time limit) days, you'll get paid."
Decline[edit]
The Fighter Quester answers:
- "You must prefer the low risk jobs, like hunting rats."
Sending the Atronach Back to Oblivion[edit]
This quest is a standard dungeon crawl. Travel to the dungeon the Fighter Quester mentioned and find the atronach within. The target can be any type of atronach, although there may be multiple atronachs of varying types depending on the dungeon and your level. Your target will always be found at a quest location, however. You will know you have completed the task when you receive the following message upon killing an atronach:
- The atronach is dead. Hopefully the Mages Guild won't find out about it.
Reward[edit]
Report back to the Fighter Quester after killing the atronach and he will say:
- "Bang-up job, (player's guild rank). Those Mages Guild bananas ain't wise to our client's shenanigans. He'll be happy to pay up the (random gold) gold pieces."
There is a 25% chance the Fighter Quester also gives you a random dungeon map, adding:
- "And, since you was such a sport about it, here's a map to a place called (random dungeon) that's supposed to be chock full o' loot. Knock yerself out, (player's first name)."
Reputation Gain/Loss[edit]
A successfully completed quest results in a reputation gain according to the table below.
Faction/Person | Reputation Gain |
---|---|
Fighters Guild | +5 |
Fighter Questers | +5 |
Associated factions | +2 |
A failed quest results in a reputation loss according to the table below.
Faction/Person | Reputation Gain |
---|---|
Fighters Guild | -2 |
Fighter Questers | -2 |
Associated factions | -1 |
(Allies/Enemies affiliations for listed factions are not considered in the tables.)
Enemies[edit]
- Random dungeon monsters
- Quest Target: Any of the following:
- One Fire Atronach
- One Flesh Atronach
- One Ice Atronach
- One Iron Atronach
Bugs[edit]
- You will only receive a notification that the target has been killed if the target is a fire atronach.
- This is corrected by DFQFIX; the message will display no matter what type of atronach the quest target is.
Additional Dialogue[edit]
After you have accepted this quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:
- "The Viscount's son has not been himself lately. That's what he gets for trying to learn magic. Ought to stick to what he knows best."
If you fail the quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:
- "The Mages Guild has requested that (ruler's title) (ruler's name) give them the right to punish the Viscount's son. It seems he summoned an atronach which went rogue."
If you successfully complete the quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:
- "The Viscount's son joined the Mages Guild recently. Wonder why he changed his mind about them?"
If you successfully complete the quest, the quest giver may later greet you with:
- "Atronachs zero, (player's first name) one. You'll go far in the guild at this rate."
If you failed the quest, the quest giver will greet you with:
- "You shouldn't have taken the job to kill the atronach if you couldn't handle it. Now the Viscount's son faces charges of illegal sorcery."
