It would be better if the quests were sorted by the quest name in the alphabetical list instead of all showing up in the "O". I'm not sure why "Oblivion:Aid for Bruma" shows up under "A", but it would be nice if the rest followed suit. --Lorenz03Tx 22 July 2006

I looked at Template:Oblivion Quests Trail, which is where most of these pages get their category tag from. By comparison to the Morrowind template (where the quests do seem to sort better) the "PAGENAME" seemed to missing from the categories: in other words it seems like perhaps the name of the quests isn't being given to the category. So, to make a long story short, I've tried one possible fix, but it doesn't seem to have worked. I'll fiddle around a bit more, but I'm still trying to figure out alot of this template/category stuff, so no guarantees I'll be able to do anything! --Nephele 01:18, 23 July 2006 (EDT)
OK, the fix does actually work: just got Revenge Served Cold moved to "R". Only problem is that each page will only get resorted when it's edited. So, Lorenz, if you want to get the list alphabetized, you can go through the quest pages and just make minor changes on each (wikify the NPC names, wikify place names, fix typos, whatever). Or else the list will slowly start to get sorted out as the pages get edited for whatever reasons. --Nephele 01:28, 23 July 2006 (EDT)
You can also revert your change, and it will still remain in the right location. --Aristeo 03:27, 23 July 2006 (EDT)
Okay, something's still not working. I just made a few trivial changes to "A Kiss Before Dying" and "A Mage's Staff", and they're still listed under 'O'. Not sure what's different. Changes like this are working fine on the NPCs category, but not here. Anyone have a clue? --TheRealLurlock 00:49, 25 July 2006 (EDT)
I missed the Guild quests the first time around: they still didn't have the PAGENAME added to the category. I just fixed the Dark Brotherhood Trail, I'll get the Mages Guild and Fighters Guild next.--Nephele 01:22, 25 July 2006 (EDT)
I just went through (hopefully) every template used on the oblivion and tamriel pages that has a category in it, and made sure they all say PAGENAME now. I'm biased and ignored the other namespaces (i.e., bloodmoon), since I haven't worked on any of those pages. As with all the other categories, they'll only get updated as the pages get edited, but at least the underlying problem has hopefully been rooted out and eradicated.--Nephele 01:40, 25 July 2006 (EDT)

OK, having gone through all these templates once, now I'm thinking of doing it again. The thing is, there are individual templates set up for each of the different quest lines. But the quests are only being put into the Oblivion-Quests category. If we've got the different templates, shouldn't we also go ahead and have sub-categories, i.e. Oblivion-Quests-Main Quest (which only has one manually entered entry right now)? Seems to make sense to me, and again, the sooner it's done the better. So off for another round of template edits.... --Nephele 02:06, 25 July 2006 (EDT)

Out of the 'O's[edit]

Well, I've finally gotten all the quests out of the 'O' category on the list. All that remains are a few entries which I don't think should necessarily be on this page in the first place. (I already removed the three map pages which showed up here. There's a section for maps, and having them here was just redundant.) They are:

  1. Oblivion:Expelled from the Fighters Guild
  2. Oblivion:Main Quest
  3. Oblivion:Miscellaneous Quests
  4. Oblivion:Plugins

The first is not really a quest, merely a consequence of being kicked out of the guild. The other three are sub-categories, two of which already exist on the Sub-Categories section up at the top. The plugins section I'm not sure about, but I don't think it necessarily belongs here. Any votes to keep these on this list? --TheRealLurlock 22:52, 28 July 2006 (EDT)

Oblivion:Expelled from the Fighters Guild is a quest. Oblivion:Main Quest and Oblivion:Miscellaneous Quests need to have the Oblivion: Quest Trail, but need to be in Category:Oblivion. I believe this presents a problem for us, because of automatic category inclusions. --Aristeo 03:04, 29 July 2006 (EDT)
What about a new sub-category, Oblivion-Quests-General or something like that? --TheRealLurlock 10:31, 29 July 2006 (EDT)
For just those two pages? --Aristeo 10:36, 29 July 2006 (EDT)
Three, first of all, including Plugins. But presumably, you could put in pages for each of the other categories, like say you just want a list of all the quests in Bruma, but not buried on a page that tells you everything else about Bruma. I know I've had occasions where I'm looking up a Mages Guild quest or something like that, and I was mildly annoyed that I had to scroll all the way down to nearly the bottom of the page to find the quest list. Most of the pages linked to from the Oblivion:Quests page are like that, they link to the city or faction page directly, rather than going to a page just for the quests. Might be enough to justify the new category. --TheRealLurlock 11:10, 29 July 2006 (EDT)
I went through the links on the Oblivion:Quests page a week or two ago, and made the city links point to the actual section of the page that lists the quests, because of that exact annoyance. I'll do the guilds right now while I'm thinking of it, too. But I don't see that having Oblivion:Main Quest show up on this category page is really a problem. OK, so it's quest-related rather than actually being a quest, but I can't imagine too many people getting confused by that. In my opinion. --Nephele 13:31, 29 July 2006 (EDT)

I also wish that it show all the quests, including the quests of the game of the year edition.

Quest IDs?[edit]

I would find it very helpful to have a listing of quest IDs. I would do it myself but I can't find a listing anywhere. Which is precisely why I want one.

Are you suggesting there should be a separate page just to provide a list of all the quest IDs? Or are you are just requesting that the quest IDs be filled in on each quest's page? --Nephele 20:25, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

T Foreward Missing[edit]

I was going thru the lists to see what quests I had completed and what remained and noticed that the quests after the letter S wont load with the next button. The "http://www.uesp.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Oblivion-Quests&from=Taking+Care+of+Lex" link leads back to the A thru S section of the list.

This is odd - I don't have a problem with this in Firefox, but when I tried to load the page in IE7, I get the same thing you get. I wonder if this affects ALL categories with more than 200 entries? Because that would be really annoying - and a serious flaw in the way IE handles the wiki pages. Anyhow, my advice to you is to get Firefox - it's just better all around, not to mention safer from all kinds of ugly nastiness (not from our site of course, but there are serious vulnerabilities in it.) Still, we should definitely look into what's causing this problem in IE... --TheRealLurlock Talk 00:12, 23 March 2008 (EDT)
Never Used Firefox before so I downloaded it at your sugestion, imported all my IE7 items and well... ...Same issue: All I can view is A thru S with Firefox just like with IE7. Could it be something in my settings that defaulted badly as a carry over from IE7? ~Sylph~
It's a known glitch right now with the server configuration, which affects all non-logged-in users who try to view subsequent pages of any category. It has nothing to do with which browser you're using. See discussions at Administrator Noticeboard#Squid Assessment (final entry) and Administrator Noticeboard#Server-level Problems. The easiest way to circumvent the problem for now is to create an account. Eventually hopefully Daveh can find the actual cause of the problem, but in the meantime that's all that can be done. --NepheleTalk 01:33, 23 March 2008 (EDT)
Thanks Nephele! That solved my problem. ~Sylph~
Oops, that explains it - I don't have the cookies set up to auto-login in IE7, so when I viewed the page there I wasn't logged in, which explains why I had the problem there and not in Firefox. Anyhow, getting Firefox is still a good idea all around, even if it isn't related to this issue. Sorry for the confusion there though. --TheRealLurlock Talk 23:25, 25 March 2008 (EDT)
Moderately pointless update: The known glitch remains but has taken a new form whenever I view this page while not logged in. It loads from T foreward and now shuns A-S. Not sure what's changed but perhaps it was better the other way as A-S illicits more quest options for the unlogged (Unless this is a mere bump in the road towards an ultimate solution). ~Sylph~
Odd but not impossible. It's a caching problem so it's likely that page two was the first to be viewed after a server restart or something similar. I'll bet if you look again tomorrow it'll have changed again. –RpehTCE 02:48, 12 April 2008 (EDT)
I had the same problem (no login), quests showing only beginning at T. Workaraound for me was adding a '&action=purge' to the URL. But it gets stuck at T again as soon as I press the next button - unitl next purge. 130.83.244.131 10:33, 29 August 2008 (EDT)
I am logged in and can see A-about half of U, and then nothing, and the next 200 link doesn't work. I have following the various links and suggestions, and so far no success. — Unsigned comment by Fjnorwood (talkcontribs) on 15 February 2009

This problem should now be truly fixed -- no need to create an account, no need to purge the page. The "next 200" and "previous 200" links should work as expected for all readers. If anyone is still experiencing problems, please let us know; otherwise, this issue has been moved to the list of resolved problems. --NepheleTalk 12:41, 8 April 2009 (EDT)

I know I'm way behind, this is actually like me 5th play through, but this is bugged again. The quest that "next 200" points to is "To Serve Sithis" and I have tried typing in different quest names. Still just reloads A-partial T. Logged in on both Chrome and Firefox(not at the same time) no luck, Any Ideas? If nothing else, could someone just post a list of all quest after Ultimate Heist to my talk page?--Stcmarine (talk) 19:51, 25 October 2012 (GMT)
Yeah, we're having some issues with this feature on categories after out last upgrade. You can see the discussion here (though you'll find it easier if you just search "next 200" on the page). eshetalk 19:56, 25 October 2012 (GMT)
Couldnt you just add a separate page+link for the 32 missing quests from T to Z? Or am I missing something? link still doesnt work for me, not even with firefox...Laconda 23:20, 23 Nov 2012 (MET)
Use this link: http://www.uesp.net/w/index.php?title=Category:Oblivion-Quests&from=To+Serve+Sithis#mw-pages
All I did was remove the "page" where the link said "pagefrom". That works fine in Firefox. — ABCface 03:16, 24 November 2012 (GMT)

Confusion[edit]

The page says there are 20 subcategories. So, I assume the quests in the subcategories are also mentioned on the main page. But I can't find some of them, like the Master training-quest "Illusion Training" or some of the KoTN-quests. How is this really constructed? Also, I doubt "User:Ratwar/Sandbox III" is a real quest... So can someone please help me out and explain? Thanks! SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 04:38, 19 April 2009 (EDT)

I don't understand the problem. Sure, one of Ratwar's sandboxes is on by mistake, but the Illusion Training quest is where it should be. What's actually wrong? –RpehTCE 17:41, 27 April 2009 (EDT)
No it isn't, the Illusion Training-quest is not listed among the overall quests, at least not from what I can see. SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 14:11, 29 April 2009 (EDT)
I've also noticed that categories (which belongs in the subtopics section), are listed among the quests: "Oblivion:Daedric Quests", "Oblivion:Leveled Item Quests", "Oblivion:Main Quest", "Oblivion:Miscellaneous Quests", "Oblivion:Official Plug-Ins", "Oblivion:Unfinished Quests". Topics should remain in one section, and individual quests in another, right? In addition to my previous post, another quest not listed is "Block Training". Add 100% completion link[edit]

This is from my phone, so ill be brief. There should be a link to the 204 total quests sorted by guild/category so people don't have to search around for a well-formatted page on all quests listed sequentially with brief notes. — Unsigned comment by 174.252.245.147 (talk) on 5 November 2011

Let us know when you've written it. rpeh •TCE 14:33, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
It already exists, sort of. Why would you want a brief description? It's all done automatically by categories. But feel free to write one out. In fact, this could be another project for me to do. --Kiz ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 14:39, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
