Beyond Skyrim:Cyrodiil/Welcome to Cyrodiil
|
Quick Walkthrough[edit]
- Travel to Pale Pass.
- Convince Legate Centos Durius to let you through the border gate.
- If unable to convince Centos Durius to let you in, travel to the Serpent's Trail.
- Make your way through the Serpent's Trail to Cyrodiil.
Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Cyrodiil's closed[edit]
Your journey towards Cyrodiil starts at the Pale Pass. Make your way there from Helgen's eastern gate by taking the southeastern road. Once you arrive, the sentry on duty will tell you speak to the resident Legionnaire. It looks like you're out of luck: the pass is closed as the Empire wants to keep Skyrim's strife confined to the province.
Offering a bribe won't work, so you have four options:
- Join the Imperial Legion, after which Durius will let you in without question.
- Complete quests in Skyrim to gain notoriety in Durius's eyes. Durius will let you through if you are the Harbinger of the Companions, the Arch-Mage of the College of Winterhold, if you can rightfully claim to be Dragonborn (requires that you have completed The Way of the Voice) or if you succeeded in destroying the Dark Brotherhood.
- Attack the soldiers guarding the pass. Alongside Durius there are seven other soldiers, making this a very tough fight. Once you slay the Legate, loot his corpse for the key to the gate. The sentries on the other side will be none the wiser.
- Find an alternative way in—see Serpent's Path section below.
Slithering in from Skyrim[edit]
Backtrack down the road and to the east you will notice a fireplace under a rocky overhang. Mirich Ran holds court here and will offer you both his marvelous goods and his special services. Inquire about the latter and make sure you tell him you're not with the Legion, as this will cause this side quest to fail. After paying him 200 gold, he points you in the direction of the Serpent's Trail and marks it on your map. After battling your way past smugglers and goblins (see the place page for a detailed walkthrough), you will emerge in Cyrodiil, just south of Snowstone Rest.
Notes[edit]
- If you experience an infinite loading screen when attempting to enter Cyrodiil, make sure you have enabled the SKSE Memory Patch.
- The quest arrow will point you towards the Serpent's Trail even before you speak to Mirich Ran, although it won't appear on the main map.
- Once you have entered Cyrodiil, even if it was through the Serpent's Trail, the gates on both sides of the Pass will now always be open.
Quest Stages[edit]

Stage | Finishes Quest | Journal Entry |
1 | Cyrodiil, the Imperial Heartland, is a land scarred by the horrors of the Great War and suffering many problems of its own. It seems like fertile ground for new adventures.
Objective 1: Enter Cyrodiil
|
|
10 |
Objective 10: Convince Legate Centos Durius to grant passage to Cyrodiil
|
|
11 |
Objective 11: Find an alternate means of entering Cyrodiil
|
|
20 | There's a suspicious merchant near the Pale Pass border gate. While he claims to be a mere hunter, he mentioned "special services". Perhaps he could help get me into Cyrodiil?
Objective 20: Get help from Mirich Ran and his 'special services'
|
|
21 | In my dealings with Mirich Ran I gave him cause to believe I was a member of the Imperial Legion, and he has refused to divulge any information about his "special services." I suppose I'll have to find a secret route into Cyrodiil myself, or deal with the border guards...
22 | After paying a hefty sum of coin, the merchant, Mirich Ran, informed me of a nearby smuggler's cave that runs between Skyrim and Cyrodiil named Serpent's Trail. If I wish to bypass the Imperials and make my way into Cyrodiil illicitly, I should head there.
Objective 22: Investigate Serpent's Trail
|
|
30 | I convinced the Legate in charge of the border to let me through! Time for new adventures.
31 | I killed the Legate in charge of the border. I can now freely enter Cyrodiil.
600 | I've reached Cyrodiil, arriving in Pale Pass, the northmost region in County Bruma. It's time for some fresh adventures. |
- The following empty quest stages were omitted from the table: 0.
- Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g.,
<Alias=LocationHold>
) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game. - Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage quest stage

is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest usingresetquest quest
