Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
After talking to Ma Syd Jun, go to the Black Arrow to find the person who's looking for you - a man named Oron. He will offer a reward for finding something called the Bloodscript, which Oron intends to take to Halls of Lôrn to destroy it. He says that a historian named Auril stayed in Bravil for a while searching for the Bloodscript, and has likely left a message somewhere for his acquaintances to find it. In order to find the message, go talk to Osslas in his shop Osslas' Scripts. He has a copy of Auril's Magic Riddle Rhymes for sale. In order to solve the riddle and get the clue, take the first letter of each line: "SEARCH FOR ISLAN'S TOMB IN BRAVIL".
Where would you find a tomb? The graveyard, of course, which is behind the chapel. Look for Islan's Grave, and open it to find Auril's Key and a note. The key unlocks the Old Channel House, which leads down to an old ruin. You'll have to jump down into the water, then go down further through a hole in the floor. This is actually a looping passage with no end; the only way out is an opening on the ceiling not far from where you came in.
When you get out of the water, you'll see a woman ahead. This is Nanya - she's not pleased to see you, but is not violent. She'll run off into the ruin; you can follow her, or not; there's only one exit, and it's hard to get lost here. The next level is rather large, and has lots of traps, so be careful. The path you want is straight ahead. After this, you'll go through the Silent Passage - just a jaunt across a bridge with a group of skeletons.
The next door leads to the final area. The passage beyond the door is lined with dart traps, and after the darts, you'll see a pressure plate on the floor which will trigger a pile of rocks to fall from the ceiling. Go straight down the hall to the steps. Walk around either side of the raised altar, and find the door at the back of the room; this leads to a small chamber containing a shrine with the Bloodscript.
Make your way back out of the ruins (two daedroth will now appear on either side of the raised altar) and back to the Black Arrow. Oron will take the Bloodscript and ask what you want as a reward; no matter what you say, he'll laugh and send you to an Oblivion realm and all of your possessions will be missing. Follow the road until you hear a whistling tune under the arch. Jump off the cliff; just before you hit the lava, you'll be sent back to the hotel room (your possessions are returned to you).
Oron is gone, but Nanya is there instead. She'll explain that Oron has his own agenda, and when you suggest that he has gone to the Halls of Lôrn, Nanya says that you'll need to accompany her there to stop him. She'll leave the Black Arrow and head for the stable outside the city. When she stops outside the gate, tell her you are ready, and Nanya will mount her horse Cathun. Follow her down the road about halfway towards Leyawiin, across the Lower Niben and then north until Nanya turns east and follows the smaller road past The Drunken Dragon Inn. When the road ends, Nanya will continue across the country, roughly following the course of the Panther River upstream until she nears the start of the river. If you prefer not to follow her all the way, then speak to Nanya about her horse, and then tell her that you'll meet up with her at the Halls, at which point she'll agree and gallop off. You can follow, or head over there whenever you feel like it - she'll be waiting for you.
Once you get inside split up, Nanya will take the west wing while you explore the east wing. Make your way to the Halls of the Arcane. Nanya will meet you there and tell you to get to the portal at the highest level, where Oron is attempting to escape. Fight your way through the Mephalists, run across the bridge, and follow Oron through.
When you step through the portal you find yourself in a realm named The Third Sphere; Oron appears and incapacitates you. Then he teleports you to a new location, in front of an altar. After a few seconds Oron will approach and start speaking again, then Nanya will arrive and attack him, at which point Oron's control over you ends and you are free to assist Nanya.
Once Oron is dead, talk to Nanya. She'll give you the Bloodscript and a key and tell you to meet a friend of hers in Bravil (this would be Ma Syd Jun). Remember that locked door in the Halls of the Mephalists that you couldn't open before? The key unlocks it. You'll find Nanya's Diary there, along with a whistling skull which you can take with you. Upon reading Nanya's Diary, you will complete this quest.
Journal Entries[edit]

---|---|---|
Stage | Finishes Quest | Journal Entry |
30 | Oron, the last of the Mephalists told me about the Bloodscript. He said it is the last knowledge of the Mephalists, a dangerous book from the Realm of Ruun, which could be used to do harm if in the wrong hands. | |
40 | Oron promised me a great reward if I can track Auril down and acquire the Bloodscript - Oron intends to destroy the Bloodscript in a place named the Halls of Lôrn. He said Auril had stayed in Bravil for some time, maybe months. Auril is a historian, where would a historian leave a secret message to someone? | |
45 | I own Auril's "Riddle-Rhymes". Strange. How should I solve these lines? Quite logical that the entrance was not located in Bravil's market place, but here not even one location is mentioned. | |
46 | I have solved Auril's magic riddle rhyme, and now I have a key and a note left by Auril, describing a house somewhere in Bravil once used for the beginnings of a sewer system. The key will probably unlock the door to this house. | |
47 | This is the place Auril referred to in his note. Somewhere beneath these floorboards is the Bloodscript which Oron seeks. | |
60 | The Bloodscript! I hold it in my hands! And it's written in ancient Ruun, so I cannot read it. But Oron's reward will equalise my efforts, if I make it back through the flooded corridors. By all gods, I should not think about that. | |
65 | What happened?! Where am I? And where are my possessions? Oron has tricked me! | |
70 | Thank goodness, I still have all my possessions. I never want to return to that place again, but where is Oron now? | |
75 | Oron used and misused me! And now he has gone to resurrect the cult of mephalists! | |
85 | Oron seems to be on his way to the arcane Halls of Lôrn. Nanya of Vlânor, my new companion, leads us. I believe her, when she says that she is the last of the mephalists, and she looks like she could watch her back on her own, but if I lose her, I will lose Oron. And this dark mage has laid his string of life across the wrong blade of blood! | |
87 | Rather than plodding along behind Nanya's horse, we have agreed to travel separately to the Halls of Lôrn - Nanya has marked the location on my map. | |
89 | Nanya and I will split up. She will take the left wing while I will make my way through the right wing. She said either way will lead into the Arcane Hall and presumes that Oron may be there. So the best thing will be to follow her directions and make my way through the right wing. | |
90 | The Hall of Arcane! Nanya should not be far from here... if she made it. | |
115 | I own the Book of Blood. A book I never wanted to own. And a key. A key for what? Nanya said it would unlock doors I previously could not pass through. Also, Nanya said I should visit an old friend of hers in Bravil. Hm. I guess I know who that is. But for what?! | |
120 | The key unlocked the door to a tomb in the tunnels beneath the Old Channel House in Bravil. Here I have found an old diary written by Nanya which has revealed more about Ruun than I had learnt until now. |
- Notes
- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
