Removed the part about exploring on foot[edit]

I removed the part about exploring the whole of Tamriel's landmass on foot. From my own experience, as well as several other instances I've come across online, you cannot actually walk from one town to another, but rather the game will continue to generate random landscape as you travel further and further from town until the point where it causes the memory cache to crash. 209.136.161.135 19:47, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

City pages[edit]

Do we need these? Is there any point in having them? Do we have any game-specific information about any of them which can't be covered adequately on their respective lore pages? If not, we should just provide lore links instead of red links. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 23:52, 2 February 2014 (GMT)

Sorry necropost but I didn't want to start a new discussion. No other than locations assosiated with the main quest there really is little to say about the settlements in Arena that isn't already covered in the lorespace. I would agree with simply linking to the lore articles, the only problem being several of the minor settlements don't have lore articles nor reason to create them seeing as said locales have not been seen or mentioned since Arena.--StormySkies (talk) 01:37, 13 June 2014 (GMT)

Random[edit]

Every location except those from the main quest (those listed below, plus the Imperial Dungeons) is generated randomly when you first enter it. Thus, every newly started game is different, and maps or walkthroughs cannot be provided for any randomly generated locations.

I removed this statement because everytime someone queries it the only answer seems to be 'thats what it says' while plenty of people attest that locations are in fact not randomly generated. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 15:00, 5 March 2014 (GMT)

Removed BUG section that stated: "Inn and store names are defined by city, however their location is randomly generated every time you enter the city whereas the city map is not". The names and locations of stores and inns are the same in 1.06 and 1.07. I tried multiple character setups and even tried to make it wonky using the Morning Star bug and using ESC to default to female....They were still the same. I assume it "can" happen, but it's not normal or common and currently has no method to reproduce. --Satribe (talk) 21:54, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Starting Locations[edit]

On the list of starting locations after the imperial dungeons may not be complete. My character started in the Black Wastes. Is this normal or is the list incomplete? Thanks Kzljr1 (talk) 17:18, 25 May 2014 (GMT)

Pretty sure it's incomplete my Breton started off in Dunkarn Haven, apparently you can be transported to one of the minor settlements after completing the tutorial dungeon. The article should be changed.--Sithis be with you! (talk) 00:35, 26 May 2014 (GMT)
I think the starting locations should be changed, because my Argonian started in Alten Corimont after escaping the Imperial Dungeons, and based on where everyone else has started, it seems like you can only start in villages.Random Shadowscale (talk) 21:09, 18 July 2014 (GMT)

How to travel[edit]

Does anyone know how to get out of a city and travel to another. I was in a city, and left the town gates. I then went to an outside area that has the same name as the city, but is not the city itself. It seems to just randomly generate as I get further. How do I either fast travel or get out of the region? Do I need to just keep moving? Thanks Kzljr1 (talk) 22:05, 26 May 2014 (GMT)

You need to hold shift and M to bring up the world map which will allow you to select a settlement by clicking on it and pressing the horse.--StormySkies (talk) 22:23, 26 May 2014 (GMT)
Thanks! That helps a lot!Kzljr1 (talk) 23:01, 26 May 2014 (GMT)

Seen In[edit]

I've removed the notes from the new city pages which say that such and such "also appears in" future games in the series. This isn't relevant info in the Arena namespace, especially since the lists will likely continue to be expanded upon as time goes on. We generally only note past appearances (i.e. Oblivion location in ESO), not future. Instead, I've added links to the lore pages, which provide up-to-date info on the cities and link to all of the relevant gamespace pages. I've also removed all mention of future lore, since that similarly doesn't belong here. —Legoless (talk) 18:48, 13 June 2014 (GMT)

That's always been my understanding of our policy as well. It makes for a relatively small Arena namespace, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Otherwise, as new games come out, the work expands exponentially as we have to update and add to all namespaces rather than focussing only on the new ones. Robin Hood  (talk) 18:57, 13 June 2014 (GMT)
Fair enough. The first few I thought you had added them too, but it turns out it was someone else, which is when I stopped adding them. It makes sense to me. Jeancey (talk) 18:59, 13 June 2014 (GMT)
I'll go ahead and remove them then. —Legoless (talk) 19:00, 13 June 2014 (GMT)
That was my fault, sorry about that. I understand your point. Random Shadowscale (talk) 17:48, 18 June 2014 (GMT)

Uploaded Image[edit]

The UESPWiki has been my tool for all things related to The Elder Scrolls for several years. I have started back at the beginning playing Arena now. I am recording everything I do in hopes of helping some mod authors bring it into a modern platform using the Skyrim Creation Kit. I will try to learn how to properly share the information I record from my own thorough playthrough on the UESPWiki. I am taking screenshots of just about everything as I play. Nevertheless, I am not certain of what I should share on the UESPWiki, and I am not familiar with the Wiki format on editing. Most of my work is being recorded with MS Word. I then save it as a PDF to share with my group. I just uploaded an image to http://en.uesp.net/wiki/File:RihadLegendMap.png that you may wish to add to the Arena Places Rihad page. I have better images if needed. If anyone is willing to work with me on accepting my files via email, or my Google Drive account, and using the proper format for the UESPWiki page edits just let me know. —User:Dmdbd1970 22:35, 1 December 2016 (GMT)

City building[edit]

The section with town buildings could be expanded to contain more information pertaining unique buildings such as inns and shops. In Kings Guard, shops are blue and inns have moons on the outside walls, and the mages guild is also different. Is this the same on the other cities? — Unsigned comment by 174.112.29.149 (talk) at 08:30 on 3 January 2018

Non-fast travel from town to town[edit]

I wonder whether thou can reach another town on foot, without fast travel through the map? Could thou reach another town (and another province) just by leaving the former one and walking in the direction the other town is on the map? 212.186.15.63 10:57, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

No, you cannot. Fast travel is required, and I believe the game bugs out if you walk too far into the wilderness. —Legoless (talk) 15:51, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
Thou art right, one needs to travel fast if one wants to reach another town. I tried to walk from Nimbel Moor to Elinhir. Eventually thou would approach an area with no more dungeons or something. But that's really far from the city. 212.186.15.63 11:26, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
