Welcome![edit]
Hello NibKing! Welcome to UESPWiki! It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:
- Policies and Guidelines: UESPWiki standards and expectations
- Help Contents: a list of in-depth Help pages

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.
When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).
Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! DGAny Questions? 19:17, 3 November 2013 (GMT)
Edit Summary[edit]
Hello and welcome to UESPWiki! Thanks for your interest in the wiki; however, you seem to have been making multiple edits to a page without using the Edit Summary box. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but keep in mind that each edit needs to be patrolled, so edits with no edit summary can make it difficult to ascertain exactly what you are trying to accomplish So please utilize this feature! You may also want to look over our style guide and Getting Started guide. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. Echo (talk) 19:30, 19 February 2017 (UTC)
Quest Walkthroughs[edit]
Detailed walkthroughs should not be written as lists. Your edit to MW:Remove the Heads of the Thieves Guild changed prose to a list, which is the wrong way to do it. I don't want to simply undo because I've never played it and you made so many other changes, but please return and redo the walkthrough into prose. Edit Summaries[edit]
Hey NibKing, could you leave some edit summaries before saving your edit? It only has to be 2-5 words long describing what kind of edit you made, but it will help patrollers a lot of work figuring out what you were trying to fix. Thanks in advance! --Ilaro (talk) 12:26, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
- In my experience as an admin on other wikis, excessive edit summaries can sometimes result in lazy page patrolling, for whatever reason, so I prefer to use it sparingly. --NibKing (talk) 13:07, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

- Edit summaries do not only provide information for patrollers, but also explain the intent of your edit. So even if you did something wrong it can then be fixed more easily instead of being reverted. It gives clarification and thus less confusion of what you tried to change. Furthermore, it provides an "archive" of the changes that have been made to a certain page in their history section, so editors working on the page 3 years later can still easily check what you have done. --Ilaro (talk) 13:56, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

- I understand all that, but I've already provided an explanation. I can see how including a summary might be justified for users who have been problematic or dispruptive, but I've been neither. Asking editors to use an optional feature all the time is unusual and in this case discouraging. Am I free to make edits in good faith without being accosted? I'm not refusing to provide edit summaries, I just don't use it all the time. I don't know anyone who does. --NibKing (talk) 14:36, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

- It might not be necessary for minor changes, but huge edits such as this require an explanation as to what you were trying to achieve. For instance, why was the green checkmark removed from the C2_Sunder quest stage? You might have had a very good reason to remove it, , but per WP:FIES there are fewer reasons to assume good faith when edits are left unexplained. —Legoless (talk) 19:03, 17 July 2018 (UTC)

- Regarding the C2_Sunder quest stage - The green check mark was removed because simply receiving a bottle of ancient Dagoth brandy from Dagoth Endus does not end the entire quest. --NibKing (talk) 19:10, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
- I do agree that I should have left a summary for that particular edit. --NibKing (talk) 19:29, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
