welcome![edit]

hey arny!i've seen you welcomeing a few people and noticed that you copyed some one elses message and then fixxed the name and just wanted to tell you there's a easyer way...found here!and by the way i noticed that you never got welcomed so....WELCOME!--GUM!!! 00:48, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, but when you welcome somebody in the recent changes it shows up as welcome, when I welcome people it shows up as the first sentence why is that? Arny 08:25, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
Because you're doing it wrong. Just use that Messages page, put the name of the user you want to welcome in the box and click the "Welcome editor" button, enter "Welcome" in the "Subject/headline" section, add their name to the main box and hit save. rpeh •TCE 10:16, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
Ohh, thanks Arny 10:18, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
oh and you might want to put ==Welcome!== that and it'll have a top or you can put the name in the subject headline--GUM!!! 12:00, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks Arny 18:38, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
Yes I finally figured it out Arny 19:11, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Your Userbox Question[edit]

Hi Arny! I saw you left me a question about my userbox organization, and if you would like me to do it myself, just give me the okay or you can add the template yourself. Let me know here!--Corevette789 19:41, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks its so much better now --Arny 10:19, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
No problem! come back if you need anything else!--65.49.2.151 12:43, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Not a Forum[edit]

I need to remind you that the UESP wiki is not a forum. There is a separate forum if you want to chat with other people about fanfics, characters and other things not related to the wiki. I know you are helping the wiki in other ways, and that is very much appreciated, but there's a place for non-wiki chat and this isn't it.

At the moment, you (and others) are clogging up the recent changes page with irrelevant edits that still require checking and patrolling. Please take this activity off-wiki. rpeh •TCE 22:53, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Sorry Arny 08:35, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
hey arny what's your forum name?--GUM!!! 20:25, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
I dont have a forum account --Arny 10:00, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
oh ok then if you ever make one tell me;)--GUM!!! 13:52, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

72?[edit]

hi! i was wondering why your page says you're 72 when you're 170? — Unsigned comment by GUM!!! (talkcontribs)

Thanks for some reason my comp cuts half the first number out usually I notice it but this time I didnt Arny 16:29, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
lol im still not 72 maybe in a week I will be Arny 08:43, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
Ok im 71 on the list now Arny 09:30, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Saves[edit]

Hi Arny. In regards to your removal of the "saves" section on Oblivion talk:Oblivion, we appreciate your desire to clean up after yourself, but unless the post is spam, vandalism, or likely to incite riots, we generally leave such posts available on the page (or in the archives for larger pages). Someone else may come along with a similar problem and with luck, when they search the site for the answer, they may come across your post. Robin HoodTalk 14:24, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Ok I was deleting the post because I found a solution so should I post the solution there and leave it? --Arny 14:36, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
You should and I see you did. Perfect! Thanks. Robin HoodTalk 15:08, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

patroller question[edit]

Hey guys I was just wondering if I nominated myself as a patroller would I be accepted or rejected? Arny 10:07, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, but I would oppose your nomination. You are definitely promising, and I'm looking forward to supporting your nomination in the future, but at the moment you still haven't got enough experience IMO. You need to show more confidence and judgement when reverting edits and patrolling RC, and in general, more patrolling. At the moment, your edit count is still a bit low, which unfortunately is disqualifying. The community needs a better idea of how you edit. In particular, skimming through your contributions, there isn't much content editing. I suggest you join an existing project, or make your own, to get a better feel of how the wiki works and the editing process.
I'll say it again: I think you will eventually become a Patroller, if you keep up the good work, but there is no need to rush a nomination. I did that, and was rejected - quite rightly I must admit. So my advice is, keep on going and work hard on content and patrolling. And don't worry, if we think someone's up for the job, one of us (meaning patrollers/admins) will likely nominate you. --SerCenKing Talk 10:42, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Lol thanks I didnt want to embarrass myself so I posted here thanks Arny 13:26, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
I qualify but I dont think anybody will support my nomination (Doing a search on contributions revealed when you search the word "talk" you get 562 results, -50 because a lot of them are undoes gives about 500 so I have about 300 edits on pages, but I still think I will get rejected) --Arny 17:06, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Project[edit]

Some people suggested I should start my own project so I will. Several pages on UESPWiki just link a person(or object) to their page the first time their name is mentioned so I think we should fix this by adding a link every time their name is mentioned so that it is easier and it will make uespwiki better please add your name here if you want to help --Arny 20:02, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

As detailed on the Style Guide, the site avoids multiple linking on pages because it's destracting and unnecessary, so this may not be the best of idea of a project to start or engage in -- Jplatinum16 20:12, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Ok thanks...I have to think of something else now... --Arny 20:14, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, platinum's right. There's one site that I look at regularly where the name is linked every single time, and it is seriously annoying. Robin HoodTalk 20:26, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
I see you play on the xbox; how about helping out with Oblivion NPC Redesign Project? It's a project involving NPCs where we find out and document their inventories, houses, dialogue, and anything else of note. -- Jplatinum16 20:31, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
I do play on the xbox but to record their inventory do you just pickpocket them and write the name of the things they have? --Arny 20:36, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

() No, that will not show everything, save then kill them.--Corevette789 20:39, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Ok thanks I read the project page (still dont know how to find out whether the stuff is leveled or not) Ill try to help --Arny 20:40, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Hey guys I have a question after I find the inventory where do I add it to the page? --Arny 20:43, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
It gets its own section.--Corevette789 20:45, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Ok, can somebody show me a page with a inventory on it so that I know how it looks (sry im new to this wiki) --Arny 20:47, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
It is quite simple, really. You can choose to describe it very simple or be a bit more descriptive. The descriptive version is best, though. --Krusty 20:55, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks ill do my best --Arny 20:59, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Also, if you want to know if an NPCs equipment is leveled, you need a low-level character and a high-level character. Then you kill the NPC on both levels - and then you can see, if the equipment changes or not. But for starters, I'd recommend that you just find some "ordinary" NPCs for practice. --Krusty 21:09, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
just a random question arny why did you quit?--GUM!!! 18:48, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
I dont think I can do anything to help the project..... I play on the 360 and everytime I play I forget to do stuff like kill people and check their inventory, and I like doing quests and stuff more --Arny 18:52, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
you can do dialoge...like me and any ways i've only really done one thing with it!(look at my page)--GUM!!! 18:58, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Dont know.. I tried to do dialogue in the imperial legion page but I failed Arny 07:23, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
mabye you want to start with someone who dosn't have OVER 9000! lines of uniqe dialogue?(like Trenus Duronius wich i did ;))--GUM!!! 14:38, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
I tried to do that I remebered the dialogue of some hobo in cheydinal but I dont think his name is on the list of people who live on cheydinal and I couldnt find him on the wiki, the next time I see him ill note his name down and search it on the wiki --Arny 07:59, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

NewLine[edit]

While it works, {{NewLine}} isn't really intended to create line breaks for text and goes about it "the long way" so to speak; it's more meant for images and the like. Your best bet for your user page is to simply put an extra blank line between each line of text or use <br/>. Here are some examples:

Name:Arny

Race:Nord

Name:Arny<br/>

Race:Nord

Name:Arny<br/>Race:Nord Name:Arny<br/><br/>Race:Nord
Name:Arny

Race:Nord

Name:Arny

Race:Nord

Name:Arny
Race:Nord

Robin HoodTalk 01:25, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Ok thanks ill try that --Arny 15:09, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Friendly question[edit]

I just wanted to ask why you reverted my edit to Vampire Cure. You simply stated "no". Could you please give a reason? That section of the notes had conflicting information, which should be changed. Mikeyboy52 07:52, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

The message gave a warning to users so that they do not do it. Several users might try to do it, you can still change the alternitives to possibilities if you want or you can undo my undo Arny 07:59, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
The overall warning is still there, just that one part so users dont automatically assume they cant survive. Ill undo for now, and post something on the talk page, so we (might) get feedback on it :D Mikeyboy52 08:04, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
Ok we can discuss it on the talk page (they really need to archive it the talk page is huge) Arny 08:06, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

Didnt rpeh just archive it? Mikeyboy52 16:40, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

I posted this before rpeh archived it, he did it right after I said this --Arny 08:00, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
Lol, oh yeah, do you mind if I copy your recent changes userbox? Mikeyboy52 09:12, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
Which the recent changesd no-patroller? look here I think its the 8th one Arny 09:58, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
Hope that helped Arny 10:22, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Yes, thanks, with your table set-up I managed to think up an idea as well :D Mikeyboy52 11:58, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

I dont think I helped at all (I just messed it up) but lol all you had to do was put it in order (wonder why the no patroller still shows up randomly in the middle --Arny 19:30, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

wiki script question[edit]

Hey guys im new and I saw dates on User:Goblin lair userpage so I copied them, but when I pasted them to my user page it shows up like this:colspan=4 style="text-align:center"|Current Date Middas, 6th of Sun's Dusk |}

this is the script: colspan=4 style="text-align:center"|''Current Date'' '''{{#switch:{{CURRENTDOW}} |0=Sundas |1=Morndas |2=Tirdas |3=Middas |4=Turdas |5=Fredas |6=Loredas}}, {{CURRENTDAY}}{{#switch:{{CURRENTDAY}} |1|21|31=st |2|22=nd |3|23=rd|th}} of {{#switch:{{CURRENTMONTH}} |1=Morning Star |2=Sun's Dawn |3=First Seed |4=Rain's Hand |5=Second Seed |6=Mid Year |7=Sun's Height |8=Last Seed |9=Hearthfire |10=Frostfall |11=Sun's Dusk |12=Evening Star'''}} |}

I hope you don't mind but I've put the script back on - it's easier to show you what was wrong than to explain. Basically there was part of a table there that wasn't necessary. rpeh •TCE 09:11, 7 June 2010 (UTC)
Ok thanks I copied it from a table (goblin lair had it on a table) thtas why I got it wrong) Arny 09:16, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

changeing talk page posts...[edit]

hi arny! just wanted to tell you that you aren't really supossed to change other peoples s[elling ;)--GUM!!! 11:51, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Thats "spelling" not "s[elling" ha ha ha Mikeyboy52 11:56, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
He is actually right. You should not fix spelling for other users on talk pages and your fixes will probably be reverted in the near future. --Krusty 11:58, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
K sry didnt know that (I just hate bad spelling sry) --Arny 19:11, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Why not browse through the pages and find some spelling mistakes? I've done it a few times :D Mikeyboy52 06:44, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Those Guidelines[edit]

The thing with Daveh's page is Editing User and User_Talk pages is not allowed unless it is a rare circumstance. All other talk pages can be archived is need be.--Corevette789 19:51, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Ok I get it now I think you should add this to the UESPWiki:Archiving Guideline page --Arny 20:06, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Quoting from the aforementioned link:
"User talk pages should only be archived by that user. This guideline does not strictly apply to user talk pages, since each user's personal preferences will determine what the user wishes to do with their talk page. However, users may choose to adopt this guidelines for use on their talk pages."--Corevette789 20:14, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Sry I didnt read (i must seriously be wasting all your time by doing/asking nooby things/questions --Arny 20:15, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Just stating[edit]

If someone undoes your edit, your supposed to talk it out on the talk page, not revert to your original edit. I'm not sure if we use that policy (although I know WP does) its just polite. :P Mike/|\ 18:47, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Discussing on Scorpios talk page (btw sry if im being mean) --Arny 18:49, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Lol, not mean, noone knows every policy. I just got hit with that policy on another wiki Mike/|\ 18:53, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Not sure if thats a policy on UESPWiki but Jauffre does not live in Chorrol (if you want to argue about this we can go to scorpios userpage and do this because he is also arguing) --Arny 18:59, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Sorry[edit]

Sorry— Unsigned comment by Scorpio (talkcontribs)

Im sorry scorpio go to the recent changes page, Mikeybox created a sandbox for you to put it there we both will help you and then you can can add it to the pages --Arny 19:27, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

if you want[edit]

if you want, go ahead and edit the sandbox, its listed on my userpage as notable people, im heading to bed. send scorpio my regards lol Mike/|\ 20:02, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

k I think the 1 hour block was fair --Arny 20:09, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
It will give him enough time to either get bored with this wiki, or get hooked to the game Mike/|\ 20:10, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
It was just a serious misunderstanding dont know how it got so messed up --Arny 20:11, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
I almost never use age a reason, but when I was 14 I liked the idea of being a "vandal" if you look at scorpios page/history he states hes 14 by the wayMike/|\ 20:15, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
They changed the block time to 1 week come and support me on scorpios talk page --Arny 20:16, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Please stop writing on his page. We all acted friendly towards him and he started to delete pages and insult editors and administrators in anger. --Krusty 20:24, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Ok sorry but Krusty you saw the situation it was a misunderstanding --Arny 20:27, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
I saw it - but we all just acted as we were supposed to and he chose to get angry with us all. And he is no longer allowed to edit his own talk page, so if you have any problems with the length of the block, please use the existing thread on the Administrator Noticeboard. --Krusty 20:34, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Its okay anyway hes never going to edit on UESPWiki again, if hes like me he would do that Arny 09:55, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
I saw you just deleted Mikeyboy's sandbox. The whole point was to provide an example for the Community to respond on, a "complete" page to make the voting process easier. My advice would be that you reverted that edit, otherwise we will not get anywhere. --Krusty 10:23, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
Okay, It was incomplete but still i'll revert it --Arny 10:24, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
Nevermind if it is incomplete at this stage, it is up for debate and serves as an example. We can edit the content as we go along. You should post a link to your own Sandbox on the CP as well, so people can see what is going on. --Krusty 10:37, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Hey i dont no if you guys have finished the idea but i have some notable people sanboxes on my talk page scorpio (Ranger 15:06, 18 June 2010 (UTC))

Archiving Tip[edit]

I just patrolled the Allies for Bruma talk page archiving you did. Thanks for that. Just a note, normally you'd leave an entire topic on the page if it comes after the date you're archiving until. So if you were doing until December 2009, you'd leave any topics on the page that had any contributions in 2010. This way, topics that are still under discussion or have recent contributions aren't prematurely hidden away. That said, you can also use good judgement. If the contribution adds little to the discussion in the long run, you can archive it anyway. In truth, I don't see anything in the archive that warrants moving it back to the talk page, but I just wanted to make sure you were aware of the convention.

Nice job on the archiving, and I've got a template in mind for the Archives table that I'm gonna play with, so hopefully the job will be that much easier fairly soon. Robin Hoodtalk 21:11, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

I know that but the reason I did it was because it was random ip's commenting on a discussion from a year ago Arny 09:57, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
In those cases, usually we revert the edit if it's not adding anything important to the discussion. If in doubt, leave it to the Patrollers/Admins. It's part of our job to decide what to do with that sort of stuff. Robin Hoodtalk 14:36, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Userboxes[edit]

for small amounts of userboxes, a simple section might be enough, but would you mind if I asked you to come up with a User:Arny/Userboxes page? Otherwise your userboxes run off the page... :P MikeTalk 20:42, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

wow you must have a small screen I have 4 different comps and on the one im on right now it fits on the screen and there is a gap on the bottom, on one other one it fits perfectly and the one on which I have a small screen the userboxes run off the page on the bottom and on the sides Arny 10:02, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
btw you should tell this to gum it runs of the page on even my biggest screen Arny 10:06, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
i only got 62!?;) but on my computer it dosn't run off the page. it's a normal sized computer screen--GUM!!! 12:42, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
I know but I dont mean run off the sides, I mean run off the bottom of the page (which yours easily do) (if they dont I think you go online on a tv or something) --Arny 18:44, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

TESV[edit]

Hey guys because tomorrow is e3, if tesV comes out so that there is not total chaos what will happen tomorrow? Will we have to make a new section in uespwiki when it comes out? What happened when oblivion came out? --Arny 19:36, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

No new namespace needs to be created. Not until the game is released anyways.--Corevette789 19:47, 14 June 2010 (UTC)
Dont think a new tes is comming out havent heard of it all day.. does anybody have more information on it? (Off topic) The new 360 looks amazing im gonna buy one right now!!! Arny 13:46, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
TESV won't be coming out for some time yet. All that might happen at E3 is that Bethesda announce it and give a tentative schedule. rpeh •TCE 14:22, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
lol I know that you will disagree but I dont want it to come out till I finish oblivion (ultimate heist is the last quest I have to do and Im half way through it) --Arny 15:32, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

() I hated that quest because of how time consuming it is. MikeTalk 15:09, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Yeah I agree its too long and there are too many enemies ( off topic: im gonna buy the new 360) --Arny 20:03, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

What I meant on Grummite page[edit]

I meant the chance that a specific item group would drop :D like the chance of necromancers dropping a black soul gem in the vanilla version of the game MikeTalk 15:06, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Oh okay --Arny 19:14, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Show Preview[edit]

Hey Arny! Could you do the patrollers a big favor and use the Show Preview button a bit more while editing your user page(s)? Thanks in advance! --Krusty 20:41, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Sry I kept on saving the page, ill use the preview thing now. btw do you mind if I create a few new userbox templates? (I just created [[Template:50welcome|this]]) --Arny 20:43, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Active Users[edit]

Here's one way of doing the Active Users page you were trying to: Active Users. The "long-form" of that, which will normally have an external link flag beside it, would be this: Active Users. Edit the post to see how these were done.

Also, please try to remember to use the "Show preview" button at the bottom of the page. It makes Patrollers' and Admins' jobs much easier. :) Robin Hoodtalk 20:56, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! ArnyTalk 08:35, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

copying?[edit]

hey just wondering if i could copy your welcome userbox?--GUM!!! 13:05, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Sure, if you mean the welcoming user box with which you can welcome users you just put this in <inputbox> type=comment preload=UESPWiki:Messages/Welcome default=User_talk: buttonlabel=Welcome editor bgcolor=#FBEFD5 width=50 break=no </inputbox>

Copy this from my page or from the messages page because it wont show up right, if you mean the This user has welcomed ### users Then you use {{Template:50welcome}}, {{Template:100welcome}} or {{Template:200welcome}}, for the number of users you have welcomed, if you have welcomed more than that (400) then we could create a 400welcome template ArnyTalk 08:19, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

not sure how many...just alot so i'll say erm....200 but with a colur change ;)--GUM!!! 12:05, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
Yes you are right looking at your contributions you have 223 (about) welcomes, including your Welcome and Advice --ArnyTalk Contributions Email 19:34, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
