The purpose of this page is to document some aspects of Morrowind that are specific to the Xbox version of the game. The vast majority of gameplay is identical on all platforms: the quests are the same, the glitches are the same, etc.

Backwards Compatibility[edit]

The Xbox version of Morrowind is backwards compatible on Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Saves can be synced between consoles via Xbox Live.[verification needed — which consoles?]

Gameplay Differences[edit]

  • The PC and Xbox versions have different loading screens.
  • On Xbox, you can make use of several cheat codes not available on PC.
  • In the Game of the Year Edition, you will not be attacked by the Dark Brotherhood until level 6. This is different from the PC version of the game, where assassins will begin to attack you in your sleep at any level.
  • In the Game of the Year Edition, several buildings and walls in Raven Rock are absent, even after the final stage of construction has concluded. These structures were removed to save on disk space.

Missing PC Features[edit]

Some of the PC features that are not available on Xbox are:

  • The console. This means that in many cases bug fixes that are used by PC players are not available to Xbox players. It also means that most cheats and exploits are not available.
  • The Construction Set. The Construction Set does not directly affect gameplay; rather, it allows the game files to be viewed and edited. A lot of the information on the wiki is derived from the Construction Set, because it allows the factors controlling gameplay to be easily identified.
  • Mods cannot be installed due to security features that prevent modification of the Xbox.

Official Plugins[edit]

None of the official plugins are available on Xbox. The Game of the Year Edition includes the Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansions.

Interface Differences[edit]

Although the keyboard and Xbox controller clearly provide very different methods of interacting with the game, most of the controls work the same way. Some differences, however, include:

  • On Xbox there is no way to toggle Always Run or Auto Move.
    • Walking vs running is controlled by how far forward you push the left thumbstick. Slight motions of the thumbstick will cause your character to walk; pushing the thumbstick as far as it will go will cause your character to run.
  • The Quick Save and Quick Load shortcuts are not available; save and load are only accessible through the Menu options.

Controller Settings[edit]

A complete list of controls is provided at Controls.
